About the job

Would you like to become an educator at a school in development, with the opportunity to create the framework for working with children and young people who need special support to thrive in a learning environment? Then continue reading. The job requires a focus on relational work, structure, and close collaboration with the team in the class, and not least with the parents.

About the job

We are seeking an educator with special educational competencies, strong relational skills, and a view of children that matches the school's value base. The Inclusion Center has exclusively admitted students who, for various reasons, thrive best in environments with more adults and fewer students. Here you will together with the team around the class through joint preparation and a high degree of collaboration ensure that our students thrive and learn as well as possible.

At Gørlev School, equal collaboration between teachers and pedagogues is a focus and highly prioritized. It is essential that you can see yourself participating in joint preparation, implementation and evaluation of pedagogical content. At the same time, school/home cooperation will naturally be part of your ongoing tasks.

You, as a class educator, have all your hours scheduled in one of our IC classes. You follow the school's holiday calendar and therefore in a full-time position have a duty of about 40 hours per week.

Why choose us

Gørlev School has a one-track general school with about 95 students and here, in addition, an inclusion center with about 50 students.

With us you will be colleagues with 20 teachers, 15 pedagogues, two secretaries, a technical service manager and a leadership team consisting of deputy principals and the principal. We also have a good collaboration with an active parents' association and a school board.

Gørlev School has skilled, engaged and motivated staff who primarily teach in their subject areas, and where their professional expertise and judgment are respected and laid as the basis for teaching. You can read more about Gørlev School at https://goerlevskole.aula.dk/

At Gørlev School we place emphasis on continually raising academic achievement and student well-being. We do this through an appreciative approach, and we have started a systematic approach to two adults in teaching. To support the favorable conditions for this, you will receive scheduled meeting time every week in your team. Gørlev School is a place where things happen and changes are ongoing. You will therefore have very good opportunities to contribute with good ideas and proposals for new thinking and development.

In this school year we have a special focus on raising our students' proficiency in Danish and mathematics and ensuring that the students progress well to upper secondary education. We do this, among other things, by having a departmentally structured school where the Danish and mathematics teachers become specialists in their target group for grades 1–6 and 7–9. In addition, we have a resource center that, together with the school social worker, SSP, inclusion counselor, PPR consultant and the school's own counselors and special education teachers, supports efforts around students facing challenges.

Gørlev School is centrally located in Gørlev Town, and we have good bus connections right to the door. By car you can reach Gørlev School in 30 minutes from Slagelse, Sorø or Kalundborg. From Copenhagen Central Station the drive is 1 hour and 15 minutes.

We are proud of Gørlev School because

The size of the school allows us to create a school with space for differences, inclusivity and respectful behavior.

At the school, parents and children meet with respectful professionalism from staff and leadership.

We place emphasis on close parental cooperation.

We cherish good traditions, such as joint gatherings, camp, theme week across classes, subject days, and various altered days with alternative content.

We conduct many excursions so that our students gain experiences of culture, industry and, for example, municipal sports events.

We have good facilities both indoors and outdoors.

We have close cooperation with the Kindergartens Krudthuset and Hobitten.

Employment

The position is to be filled on 1.12.2026. Prior to employment, criminal record and child protection checks are obtained. Relevant references will also be obtained by agreement and employment is based on the applicable collective agreement.
