The day-to-day as a butcher apprentice – for you who want to use your hands

Most of the education takes place at the company, where you will be greeted by our experienced and skilled apprentice supervisors, who guide you through the education, teach you the craft and introduce you to a life as a butcher. Here you will have a structured everyday life, where you will always know what is expected of you, and not least you will become part of a strong community. We will teach you quality consciousness and work with precision and accuracy. At the same time you become part of a strong community where you and your colleagues share the passion for the craft and the quality.

A vocational education for the knife-sharp

The education to become a butcher takes two years with the possibility to take a third specialization year in either pig butcher, cattle butcher or processor. The program operates as a collaboration between schooling at ZBC in Roskilde and internship at one or more of our factories.

Get an apprentice supervisor who supports you

All apprentices at Danish Crown are assigned an apprentice supervisor who follows you through the entire education process. The apprentice supervisor has the overall responsibility for your apprenticeship and ensures the quality of your education. Therefore the supervisor also handles school stays, exams, employment terms etc., just as they closely follow you in daily life to ensure you thrive here with us.

School stays – a strong social community

When you are at school, it takes place at ZBC in Roskilde, where you are together with the other Danish Crown butcher apprentices - you accompany each other throughout the entire education program. When you are at school, you live at ZBC in Roskilde together with the others, so there is plenty of opportunity to have fun together both in and outside school, where there are often various social events.

You will among other things receive teaching in

• Slaughtering, deboning, carving and value-adding
• Ergonomics, safety and working environment
• LEAN and robotics technology
• Social studies, product knowledge and quality
• Automation and control technologies

Come as you are – there is room for everyone

At Danish Crown we place emphasis on that you want to join! – and therefore there are no grade requirements to become a butcher apprentice at our factories. You simply need to be curious, engaged and stable and have completed 9th or 10th grade. And since the education takes place in Danish, it is important that you read, write and speak Danish. After completing the education, there is a very good opportunity for employment at Danish Crown. We hire the majority of our trainees after finished education, so we can continue to develop together.
