Church caretaker at Grenaa Parish (Maternity leave cover) 37 hours

Are you looking for an exciting job with a high degree of autonomy? Then we are seeking a churchwarden in a key role, who takes responsibility for the church and the foundation for the church acts.

The employment is fixed-term and runs immediately until August 2027, but with the possibility of extension.

About the job

You will primarily be responsible for Grenaa Church, but you should also expect tasks in other buildings of Grenaa Parish, e.g. Simon Peters Church, Chapel and the Parish House.

Even though the job is independent in nature, you will be part of a team of a total of 3 churchwardens who rotate during holidays and absence. Here you will also be able to seek help and sparring.

You must be prepared that the job includes weekend work (2 and 4 weekends per month) and work on holidays (not necessarily all). In return, you have time off on many weekdays.

Your tasks

• Churchwarden duties, including preparation and participation in services, special services, church acts and events
• Responsibility for the church and the church premises and furnishings, including procurement, cleaning, maintenance and tidying up
• Operation and maintenance of the technical installations in the church buildings, e.g. AV equipment and ringing of church bells during services
• Supervision of the church buildings regarding potential damage and need for repairs

We would like you to have

There can be many entry points to the job. Ideally you have experience as a churchwarden or another role involving church acts.

In addition it is important that you

• Are eager to engage in the church’s work
• As the church’s outward face you should appear approachable and smiling and be keen to engage in dialogue with the congregation
• Have an overview and a sense of order and naturally take responsibility for your tasks, which you solve independently
• You will have a large contact surface, so it is also important that you engage in cooperation with e.g. other colleagues, priests and the parish council

Salary and other terms

The employment is covered by the Central collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Public Employees Organization (OAO-S) and the Organisational Agreement for church functionaries with core tasks as churchwarden or sexton entered into between the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs and the Danish Churchwarden Association and the associated protocol for church wardens.

The annual salary is agreed within the range 318,527.13 DKK – 401,109.35 DKK (current krone).

There is a standby obligation for the position. The standby allowance amounts to 32,602.19 DKK annually (current krone).

OK allowance of 1,374.04 DKK (current krone) per year.

Parish Council’s proposed salary level is to be determined at hire when working by the hour (current krone). Agreement on placement in the salary range is made between the parish council and the Danish Churchwarden Association.

OK pay allowance plus standby allowance are to be prorated in accordance with the position’s appointment fraction.
