At Nordvangskolen we are seeking a head of department who will help develop safe learning environments with opportunities for participation for all kinds of children and at the same time be a close supervising leader for the staff. You enter a new leadership team with good opportunities to influence and sharpen the final task distribution based on our combined strengths and interests. Your primary areas of responsibility

The position requires you to maintain an overview in a complex everyday life, where you are close to the pedagogical practice and take responsibility for the daily operations.

Although the tasks are aligned with the overall leadership team, your central focus areas could be:

• Pedagogical effort & inclusion: You create systematization and overview of the school's efforts, lead and develop the resource center as a common focal point for the school's inclusive learning environments. We work relationally pedagogically based on ICDP (International Child Development Programme)
• As head of department you will be responsible for the daily leadership of a department. This means close follow-up on the children's well-being, learning and development, staff leadership and the employees' professional development, close and trusting parent collaboration, pupil matters and collaboration with relevant professionals and partners, support of the school's common pedagogical and didactic direction, being close to the staff's practice and at the same time ensuring direction and development.
• Substitute coverage & daily operations: You have the responsibility for daily substitute coverage and ensure that the school day runs as smoothly as possible in case of illness or absence. You find solutions with a view to both pedagogical quality and pedagogical continuity.

We are looking for a leader who

• Has a teaching professional background and preferably experience with leadership in the Danish public school.
• Has experience with or strong interest in inclusion and special pedagogical initiatives.
• You must be able to create followership. This means you can set direction, be clear about expectations and make decisions, and also invite dialogue and be genuinely interested in others' perspectives.
• You must be able to navigate safely between operations and strategy. Everyday life at a school requires an overview, structure and the ability to complete tasks, while we constantly keep an eye on long-term development. You are therefore both structured, flexible and good at prioritizing.

Salary and terms of employment

Employment is in accordance with the applicable collective agreement for pedagogical leaders. A child and criminal record check will be obtained upon appointment.
