About the job

Would you like to help ensure that our upcoming transport attendants, prison officers, security guards and foremen receive the best possible start and training with us? Do you have a knack for guidance, follow-up and coordination of apprenticeship programs, and can you see connections across boundaries? Then you now have the opportunity to become part of the Recruitment and Induction Unit at Denmark's Prisons, with a particular focus on training uniformed apprentices.

In the Recruitment and Induction Unit we work with the recruitment, education and induction of uniformed employees for all of Denmark's prisons.

We plan and participate in events at fairs, markets and much more, all across Denmark. We convey knowledge about Denmark's Prisons and our education programs to applicants and citizens. In our presentation truck we use VR and human presence. In the daily work we guide, screen, test and interview applicants to ensure that we recruit and train the most suitable transport officers, security guards, prison officers and foremen.

And we ensure that our apprentices receive the best possible introduction, training plan, support, sparring and follow-up as well as coherence and progression in their training programs, so they can contribute to security in prisons and remand centres and the safety of all citizens nationwide.

What we offer

With us you will become part of a team with a high degree of influence and participation. You will have your own areas of responsibility, so you can shape and plan your tasks yourself. You will have the opportunity to develop professionally and personally, and you will have a unique opportunity to work with tasks that receive a lot of attention and have great significance for our organization and society as a whole.

Additionally you will become part of

An effective and engaged team that at the same time prioritizes secure operations, knowledge sharing and a good atmosphere. A workplace that values well-being, development and balance, in a daily life that alternates between administrative tasks at our school in Birkerød and guidance and assessment interviews with apprentices in our prisons and remand centres on Zealand and Falster, and the possibility of deepening your work at your home office.

Your main responsibilities

As an apprentice consultant you will, together with your colleagues in Birkerød and Møgelkær, be responsible for coordinating and following up on the training journeys of our uniformed apprentices. You will have close contact and follow-up with both apprentices, practical supervisors and the management at the local prisons and remand centres and you should therefore expect field-based work about 2-3 days a week. You will play a central role in the training of our uniformed colleagues. Your tasks will include, among others:

  • Be responsible for the education programs and training plans for prison officers, transport officers and foremen apprentices, including planning, coordination and ongoing follow-up in collaboration with practical supervisors, education managers and our nationwide schools.
  • Maintain close collaboration with and be a sparring partner for the education managers and unit heads at our prisons and remand centres regarding the apprentices’ education, progression and any challenges in the training program.
  • Work closely with practical supervisors, including providing sparring and following up on apprentices’ academic status, learning goals and development points.
  • Conduct guidance, status and assessment interviews with apprentices and contribute to ensuring coherence and progression throughout their overall training path.
  • Follow up on apprentices’ wellbeing, sick leave and other factors that may affect the training path, and, in collaboration with the relevant parties, contribute to handling challenges and conflicts.
  • Handle administrative tasks related to apprentice administration and ensure relevant documentation and follow-up on apprentices’ training paths.

Depending on your profile you may also take on tasks to prepare notes, smaller analyses etc. for the management at the Office for Education and Competence Development. To a lesser extent you may also be involved in the unit’s recruitment tasks, e.g., screening applications and participating in fairs, markets and other outward-facing activities.

About you

  • You have a relevant education and preferably a uniformed background as well as good knowledge of Denmark’s Prisons and working with us. You can also have relevant experience with apprenticeship and education from a civilian position such as a pedagogue, teacher, academic or similar.
  • Your talent for collaboration, support and communication means you can quickly establish a good and respectful collaboration with colleagues, apprentices, practical supervisors, education managers, our schools and the leadership in our prisons and remand centres.
  • You work in a structured manner, can keep track of several simultaneous apprenticeship paths and follow up tasks and agreements to the letter.
  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills and are flexible regarding working hours and tasks, within a 37-hour work week.

Salary and employment terms

Employment is in accordance with the relevant applicable collective agreement, depending on your educational background.

If you are a uniformed service employee, the appointment is in accordance with the Civil Service Act. Salary placement then follows the pay agreement between Denmark’s Prisons and the Prison Officers’ Association in Denmark and the Ny Løn principles with placement in pay grade 5.

The employment area is Denmark’s Prisons.

As a civil servant, the employment area is the Ministry of Justice with its associated institutions.

The position is on an average of 37 hours per week and is available to fill from 1 January 2027.

You will be organizationally anchored in the Ledger Office for the Prison District West, but your daily workplace will be the school in Birkerød, Biskop Svanes Vej 69, 3460 Birkerød. You should expect occasional tasks across the country in connection with meetings, courses, etc., and a considerable amount of travel, as a large part of the task execution will take place at our prisons and remand centres on Zealand and Falster.
