Specialist in the Foot-Ankle Section, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Bone Surgery, Zealand University Hospital Køge

At the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Bone Surgery, Zealand University Hospital Køge (SUH Køge), there is a vacancy for a specialist in the foot-ankle section starting from 01.01.2027.

The Foot-Ankle Section's Functions

The section is deeply involved in the overall treatment of all foot-ankle disorders and traumas. The section has a well-established outpatient clinic and its own operating room in the same-day surgery unit. There is a fixed assignment of a chief training physician, who also runs their own outpatient clinic.

The section collaborates closely with the Wound, Infection and Amputation Section as well as the Trauma Section. In addition, there is close cooperation with podiatrists and plaster technicians.

The Foot-Ankle Section handles primary, regional and highly specialized functions. This includes talus and calcaneus fractures, Lisfranc dislocations, and Charcot arthropathy surgeries.

The section is a front-runner in the region regarding treatment of a range of foot and ankle disorders and has had great success with new treatment methods, e.g., seriegips (sugar casts) and the construction of Charcot treatment.

The section is staffed for three consultants and one department physician. The section also provides education in foot-ankle competencies in the main orthopedic training program. The section's doctors are active in the department's teaching and research.

Applicants can, if necessary, expect training in all foot-ankle treatments offered by the department.

It is expected that the specialist will actively contribute to the development and management of both pregraduate and postgraduate educational tasks.

As a specialist, one participates in the department's on-call team with 1-2 shifts per month with presence.

Management

At Zealand University Hospital Roskilde and Køge, departmental management has been established with decentralization of a number of managerial, financial and administrative tasks.

The Chief Physician and Chief Nurse form together the department management, which has the overall leadership and operational responsibility for the department. The department management is thus responsible for allocation of functions, work tasks and resources. The distribution must be based on professional and functional considerations, including the coherence of patient pathways. In addition, considerations of rational resource use must be taken into account.

The Chief Physician, the senior consultants and the section heads determine, after consultation with the department's other consultants, guidelines for the department's diagnostics, treatment, triage and medical education tasks. Within these guidelines, the department's consultants and other physicians have autonomous responsibility.

Department of Joint and Bone Surgery

The department is divided into 9 sections for specialized diagnostics and treatment.
