Create calm and positive experiences for a boy with autism

About the task

You will be a support person for a 9-year-old boy in Ølstykke who is diagnosed with autism and mild intellectual disability. He is nonverbal, but clear in his communication and shows great joy in sensory and physical activities such as the swimming pool, playground and walks. He is a cheerful and smiling boy who thrives best in calm surroundings – and needs an adult who can offer calm, predictability and a clear framework.

In situations where he becomes overstimulated or frustrated, he needs a safe adult who can help him regain calm. Here it can help to hold his hands and count to ten together – a method the family already uses. He also has a pram with a canopy, which can be used when he needs shielding.

Your task will be to relieve the family with small trips outside the home – e.g. to the library, the swimming pool or the playground – with a focus on safety, presence and a pace that suits his needs.

About you

You are a trained pedagog (educator) and have experience with children with autism and developmental disabilities. You are patient, calm and good at decoding nonverbal communication. You work with clarity and structure and can support the child in finding calm in situations where the world becomes too unpredictable. You are also comfortable working independently and take responsibility for the relationship.

Working hours

You have one shift per week of 4 hours. The hours can be scheduled on all weekdays and weekends – depending on what suits you best.
