About the job

Do you have energy, ideas and a desire to create more life in life?

We are looking for a colleague who wants to help strengthen the sense of community, grab citizens' ideas and create meaningful experiences – with citizens at the center and “Masters of their own lives” as something we live, not just something we say.

Would you like to help turn citizens' ideas into reality and create more life in life?

Parental leave substitute at Oasen – The Day Center at Plejecenter Aaglimt

We are looking for a colleague for a parental leave substitute who wants to become part of a day center where community, presence and the citizens’ self-determination are the driving forces. Here it is not the employees’ ideas or a calendar full of activities that defines a good day. It is the citizens' wishes, interests and needs that show the way. Therefore we are looking for you who are good at listening, seeing possibilities and helping others turn their ideas into life.

“In Oasen we believe that a good day center is not created for the citizens, but together with them.”

Welcome to Oasen – the citizens’ day center

Oasen is a day center at Plejecenter Aaglimt in Aalestrup, where we work to create safe communities, meaningful experiences and a everyday life with room for diversity. Our starting point is the value “Masters of their own lives.” For us, this means that the citizens have real influence on their everyday life. Oasen is their place, and they must experience that their voice is heard, and that their ideas and wishes matter.

Some want to participate in common activities, others need a helping hand to find their place in the community. Some come with lots of ideas, while others need support to see the possibilities. We start from each person's life history, resources and interests and work to ensure everyone can contribute with what they can and want to. In Oasen a good day can be anything from a group excursion, movement or creative activities to a coffee chat. The crucial thing is not the activity itself but the meaning and value it has for those participating.

Your role – to facilitate rather than decide

As an employee in Oasen, you help create the framework for citizens' wishes and ideas to become reality. You do not have to come with a finished plan for how the day center should be. We already have a common direction and a plan for the work, which you become an important part of carrying forward.

That does not mean there is no room for your competences and your creativity. On the contrary! We need an employee who can use their professionalism to see possibilities, find solutions and support the citizens in taking initiative and participating actively.

Your tasks will include, among other things

  • Support citizens' co-determination and involve them in planning and carrying out activities.
  • Grasp the citizens' ideas and help translate them into action.
  • Create safe frameworks where everyone feels they belong and have something to contribute.
  • Motivate and support citizens who find it difficult to take initiative or engage in communities.
  • Extend the activities, collaborations and direction that are already established in Oasen.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, volunteers and other partners to create good experiences for the citizens.

We believe that the best experiences arise when the employee does not necessarily go first with all the answers, but is curious and helps the citizens themselves find the way.

Professionalism, relationships and meaningful communities

In Oasen, relationships are the foundation of our work. We work with a person-centered approach, where we meet the citizens as people with different life experiences, needs and resources. We are focused on how we can prevent loneliness, support self-determination and create communities where the individual feels like a valuable part of something bigger. It requires both professionalism, presence and the ability to adapt to the people you meet.

We emphasize that you can work independently within the shared framework, take responsibility for daily operations and at the same time be part of a collaboration where we help each other.

Who are you?

You could be a social and health helper, social and health assistant, pedagogue, therapist or have another relevant education or experience. Your educational background is not the sole determining factor. We place great value on your humane approach and your understanding of citizen involvement.

We imagine that you

  • Meet people with warmth, respect and genuine curiosity.
  • Believe that people have resources and something valuable to contribute – regardless of age and functional level.
  • Are good at creating relationships and helping people enter into communities.
  • Can motivate without taking over and support without deciding.
  • Are proactive, but at the same time good at giving space to others' ideas.
  • Can create structure and overview in a daily life with many different needs.
  • Can work independently and take responsibility for continuing the existing plan and direction.
  • Are eager to collaborate with both citizens, relatives, colleagues and volunteers.

You do not need to have experience with all our activities. The most important is that you can see the value in the way we work and want to be part of it.

What do you get with us?

You will become part of a day center where a foundation has already been laid for work with citizen involvement, communities and meaningful activities. You will have the opportunity to use your professional and personal competencies in a daily life where you are close to the citizens, and where the small things often have just as much importance as the big experiences.

We offer

  • Meaningful work focused on relationships, quality of life and community.
  • A clear direction and a value base that frame your work.
  • The opportunity to apply your professional skills in collaboration with the citizens.
  • Collaboration with engaged colleagues and volunteers.
  • A diverse everyday life with both planned activities and room for what arises along the way.
  • The possibility to make a concrete difference for people who benefit from a safe and meaningful community.

As a parental leave substitute you will have an important role in ensuring continuity and security for the citizens, so Oasen remains a place they experience as their own.

Tell us who you are, and how you with your professional and human approach can help support the citizens' wishes, initiatives and communities. We are not looking for a colleague to reinvent Oasen, but for someone who can see the value in what we have already created together with the citizens, and who wants to carry the work forward.

“In Oasen the citizens are not just participants in an activity. They are co-creators of their own everyday life.”
