Create safe afternoons for a boy with autism

Do you have experience with children with autism, and can you create calm, structure and good experiences after a school day? Then this position might be for you.

About the task

We are seeking an employee for an 8-year-old boy with autism and Tourette syndrome. He is a charming boy who loves Minecraft and Roblox, and who thrives best with structure, predictability and clear frames. He needs support and guidance through the day’s activities.

Your task will be to pick up the boy from school in Værløse and create a safe transition to the afternoon. Together you can, among other things, make popcorn and watch a film, play Roblox on an iPad, jump on a trampoline or go to the play park. It is important that he gets outdoors every day, and you must therefore be able to motivate him to outdoor activities in a calm and validating way.

The family prepares a daily plan with activities that form the framework for your time together. Your role will be to follow the plan and create a good balance between activities, presence and calm based on the boy's needs.

About you

You have experience with children with autism and know how structure, clear communication and predictability can create security. You have a calm and patient approach and can support the boy in transitions and activities without placing unnecessary demands.

You thrive in a 1:1 relationship, where you take responsibility for creating good conditions, follow a plan and at the same time are attentive to the boy's signals and needs.

Working hours

The position is 3 hours per week.

You work regularly every Tuesday from 13:30–16:30, where you pick up the boy from school in Værløse.

Outside office hours there is always a staffed on-call phone, so you are never alone. Salary and pension according to the National Agreement entered into between FOA and Dansk Erhverv. You are covered by DUOS’ liability and occupational accident insurance and health insurance is part of your pension scheme.
