About the job
The national TEMPEST authority is seeking a consultant with an interest in emission security.
As our future colleague you are passionate about securing IT systems in the Danish Ministry of Defence's group and the State Administration against eavesdropping of electromagnetic signals.
We are looking for a detail-oriented, systematic and thorough colleague who can both participate in teamwork and work independently on their own cases. If you can relate to the above, we have an exciting position with challenging tasks where you will be part of a strong professional environment at the national TEMPEST authority, which is anchored in the national IT security authority within the Ministry of Defence's area.
You will have challenges and room to develop
The section you will join handles the role as the national TEMPEST authority, and has among others the task of advising within the TEMPEST area, conducting concrete investigations of buildings, ships, vehicles and container-based solutions, as well as giving approvals and official responses to authorities that use TEMPEST equipment in the Defence and in the State Administration.
It is an important task that requires a fundamental insight and understanding of radio signal propagation and attenuation, IT-systems operation, signal types and network protocols. The section places great emphasis on your professional development, and there are good opportunities for skills development.
In addition, we can promise you that you will receive strong professional sparring in a section that works with several highly specialized and exciting technical areas.
In the position you will, among other things, be expected to work within the following areas of responsibility:
- Advising national partners within the TEMPEST area.
- Carrying out TEMPEST measurements and subsequent reporting.
- Participation in IT projects and programs for the procurement of new weapon capabilities for the Defense.
- Participation in construction and infrastructure projects.
- Participation in various national and international professional fora and networks, which means travel activity can be expected in the position.
You and your background are important
You have either a civilian background as an engineer or academic in electronic design, EMC/EMI, radio communication, electrical or similar, or you have a military background as a technical officer with experience in IT-system design, strategic or tactical radio communication, aircraft-, ship- or vehicle installations.
It would be an advantage if you have experience as a case handler from the Ministry of Defence group (minimum grade III), from a civilian agency or ministry, or from NATO- or EU-staffs.
Furthermore, it would be an advantage if you can relate to one or more of the following statements:
- You have good insight into the Security Memorandum, national and military security regulations, and possibly NATO or EU TEMPEST governance provisions.
- You have experience with project participation or leadership; preferably in a defense- or security-related context.
- You can advise at several levels, in both spoken and written form, in a way that translates technical information into easily accessible knowledge.
- You master English at a professional technical level, enabling you to read English-language technical documentation, write decisions and notes in English, and participate in international working and knowledge-exchange groups.
- You are committed to quality, documentation and communication of your work.
- You are good at creating collaboration, where different areas of expertise are brought together.
Your concrete tasks are not fixed and can be adapted depending on your previous experience and the competencies you bring.
Your new workplace
The Danish Intelligence Service (FE) is Denmark's foreign intelligence service and works – secretly and openly – to protect Denmark and Danish interests in a changing world.
You will become part of a very special organization where we stand together to solve an important task.
Many of your future colleagues are passionate about making a difference, and we have a strong professional and social cohesion. Since we cannot talk much about our work with friends and family, a very special bond is created with your colleagues.
For us it is not easy to take work home, as we work with confidential information. On the other hand we offer a high degree of flexibility in planning your working hours, and when you are not at work, you are completely free.
We have a strong focus on social cohesion, supported by various events such as a Friday bar and a board game cafe. You also have the opportunity to join various professional forums that cross the organisation. We also have a sports association where you can engage in various types of exercise with your colleagues.
As an employee of FE you are subject to some special terms. It is a requirement that you can obtain and maintain security clearance throughout your employment. As in the rest of the Armed Forces you may be required to undertake short-term deployments abroad if needed.
You can read more about FE on our website www.fe-ddis.dk.
Your salary package depends on your qualifications
The position is aimed at both civilians and military personnel.
For military, the position is aimed at major/frigate captain (M331) or captain/lieutenant (M321 and M322). The position can also be filled by master sergeants (M221), senior sergeants (M231) or chief sergeants (M232).
For civilians, salary and terms of employment are governed by the current collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state (the Academic Collective Agreement).
In addition, you have the opportunity to negotiate a salary supplement based on qualifications.
The average working time is 37 hours per week including a paid lunch break. The position includes a pension scheme paid by FE.
How to apply for the position
Please submit your application, CV, educational certificates and other relevant documentation via the job posting, no later than 13 November 2026.
At FE we want to treat all applicants equally, so you may omit attaching a photo of yourself to your CV and application.
We expect that the initial employment interviews will take place by the end of November and aim for an employment from 1 March.
You are welcome to contact the local HR partner at [email protected] if you have questions about the position or want more information.
An employment relationship at FE is treated confidentially, which you as applicant should be aware of in the application process. This means that just as we do not tell anyone that you have applied for a position with us, please also refrain from sharing it with anyone.
We look forward to receiving your application.
