About the job

We are seeking a teacher who can teach Danish and other relevant upper-secondary subjects.

Imagine a school where all students are teenagers. Where everyday life buzzes with youth, community, ambitions and big thoughts about the future.

Welcome to Højdevangens Skole – one of Denmark's few pure upper-secondary schools with only 7th, 8th and 9th grade. It creates a very special culture, a strong youth environment and a high academic tempo.

A job with meaning, professionalism and upper-secondary life

At Højdevangen you become a central part of a dynamic professional environment, where

  • students develop at a rapid pace, both academically and personally
  • you work purposefully with subject progression in your subjects
  • you help prepare students for their final exams
  • strong relationships, clear boundaries and a safe learning environment are crucial for students' well-being and learning
  • everyday life includes both students who need support and structure, and students who flourish and make large academic leaps

You will join a strong team of teachers and pedagogues who work closely together on both students' well-being and academic progression. In the 26/27 school year and for several years ahead there will be two subject professionals in all Danish and mathematics lessons, so you should be keen to work closely with others, be curious about your own and shared practice, and dare to open your classroom to colleagues.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who

  • has a resource-oriented, youth-driven and appreciative outlook
  • thrives in a high-tempo environment with great diversity
  • wants to be part of an academically strong team and a truly special youth environment
  • preferably has experience with leading to final exams

We are looking for a teacher who is passionate about their subjects and thrives in the unique energy of upper-secondary. Most importantly, you have the desire and talent to combine subject knowledge, relationship work and clear classroom management, and you are motivated by working with young people who can face setbacks and frustrations, but also great successes and joys in their development.

Perhaps you are an experienced teacher eager to try working life at an upper-secondary school? Perhaps you are a recent graduate? The most important thing is the appetite for upper-secondary life.

About us

Højdevangens Skole is part of the four-school collaboration on Midtamager, where students go in grades 0-6 at Dyvekeskolen, Sundbyøster Skole or Gerbrandskolen and then continue to grade 7 at Højdevangens Skole. We are expanded to ten streams from 7th-9th grade, and this school year we have 23 general education classes, three reception classes and a separate boomerang program for students with various academic and social challenges.

Because we bring together students from several schools on Amager, our upper secondary is a lively mix of cultures, personalities and learning styles. It creates a dynamic, inspiring and sometimes unpredictable daily life, but also a strong academic environment and close collegial collaboration, where we lift as a team.

We believe that when we need to move young people forward, we must both work within the municipal framework and also dare to think creatively and innovatively.

It means, for example, that we have a large student talent program, that we prioritise chess, school football, Grønt råd and other activities across classes and year groups, and that we as staff are occasionally placed in unusual reflective and philosophical conversations.

We are physically located close to metro and buses, and there is free parking here.
