Now you have the opportunity to become part of an inclusive and ambitious primary school in Ishøj. A school where we, in collaboration with parents, create the framework for a holistic school day and raise the pupils academically and socially.

Strandgårdskolen is a school centrally located in Ishøj. We work with outdoor learning and creating opportunities for practical teaching. In addition, we work to create strong communities for all children. Strong communities are understood as academic communities, social communities and as having the competencies to participate in different forms of communities. We believe that all children should feel valued, that all children should feel that they belong, and that children’s actions are communication.

You must be able to teach Danish, and if you can also teach practical/musical subjects such as art, music or swimming, that’s a bonus! You should want to connect practical teaching with theoretical teaching. In return, you will become part of a school with high professional standards, great freedom to design courses and go on trips, a flexible timetable and self-managing teams. Therefore, your other teaching subjects will be agreed with your team.

You will become part of a self-managing year-group team that helps, supports and backs each other up in all the work around the students. In each year group we work with team teaching and support each other across classes. The teams design their own flexible timetables, which gives a dynamic and changing school day, which we believe creates the best learning for our students.

The close relationship to the year group and the flexible schedules enable the team to create longer and meaningful courses that can span many days or weeks. We work closely with, among others, Ishøj Nature School, which creates relevant programs in collaboration with the teachers.

We are a school with many social events among the staff. We get fruit on Tuesdays and eat freshly baked bread every Friday morning. We are also proud of our canteen, where you can get mid-morning food in the 10-minute break and buy your lunch.

Strandgårdskolen consists of about 460 pupils from 0th to 9th grade. Of these, 85 pupils are in our group arrangement, which is part of a whole and cohesive school in motion.

Strandgårdskolen is a modern and newly renovated school, and we are close to large green areas, forest, lake, the beach and the Arken art museum – and only 17 minutes by train from Copenhagen H

We have skilled mentors who are ready to support and co-practice, and the school broadly invests in competence development as a means to school development. As Ishøj Municipality’s flagship school, and UNICEF certified rights-based school, we move positively and purposefully toward the future.
