About the job

Danish teacher in the Youth School's full-time education.

What if Danish instruction does not always start with a text in a book?

What if it can also begin in a kitchen, a music room, on a walk, on a blank canvas or with a real task that actually needs to be solved?

A different path

Plan B is Lejre Municipality's full-time education for students in 8th, 9th and 10th grade, where the traditional school, for various reasons, has not been able to accommodate the students. Many of our youths have experienced long-term school absence and several have different diagnoses such as anxiety, autism, ADHD, etc., and need secure relationships, clear frames, and other ways of learning.

Plan B is therefore a different educational offering for youths. We are therefore seeking a teacher with strong competencies in Danish, who wants to help rethink how we create learning, motivation, and community. You must know your subject. But you must also be willing to take it out into the real world.

We will develop Plan B into an even stronger place where academic learning, practical activities, creativity, and strong communities are more closely linked. Danish, mathematics and English must continue to be central subjects, but we believe that these subjects can also be learned and experienced through music, movement, IT, cooking, crafts, media, outdoor activities, events and ordinary daily tasks. Not because academic knowledge is less important, but because the path to it can be different.

A place we must create together

Plan B is located in its own premises next to Kirke Hyllinge School. Here we have, among other things, a large hall, music rooms and workshop facilities. The framework gives us many possibilities. But it is not the buildings that should define Plan B. It should be the youths, the staff, and the activities we create together.

It might be a music project, a café, a workshop, a digital project, an exhibition, a collaboration with a company, movement and outdoor activities, or something we have not yet thought of. We would like to open Plan B more to the world around us and collaborate with, among others, artists, craftsmen, companies, associations and other people who can bring their professionalism and reality into the youths' schooling.

You must be able to see the Danish subject in real life

As a Danish teacher you must be able to identify the academic possibilities in the activities and convert them into teaching that makes sense for each individual youth.

You will have a special responsibility for Danish and for ensuring progression and coherence in the students' learning, so they develop the competencies they need for final exams, secondary education and life after Plan B.

We are therefore looking for a teacher who can be a subject expert, strong in relationship-building, initiator and mentor – and who thrives with the idea that a good school day does not necessarily resemble the one you would find in a traditional classroom.

We imagine that you

  • are a trained teacher with strong competencies in Danish and exam administration
  • preferably have special education experience or experience with youths who have had difficulties in the traditional school
  • can build trustful relationships with youths with very different academic, social, and personal predispositions
  • can plan Danish instruction with a focus on the individual student's level, progression and possibility to take the final exam
  • have a desire to develop practice-based and cross-disciplinary teaching
  • can identify learning opportunities in projects, activities and everyday situations
  • have a creative, practical, digital or physical interest that you want to bring into play
  • can balance clear frameworks with room for the youths' initiatives and ideas
  • thrive in close collaboration with colleagues, parents and other professionals

You do not need to be able to play the guitar, code a website, make ceramics, build a table or cook for 50 people. But it is an advantage if you can do something you are passionate about. And even more important, that you are curious about what happens when your subject meets others.

A small team with a big shared task

Plan B is part of the Music, Visual Arts and Youth School and is therefore part of a larger place with many competencies to draw on. The daily team at Plan B consists of three teachers, a pedagogue and a leader. Together you must ensure the daily teaching and the individual student's academic and personal development. This happens through individual planning, close relationships and collaboration with parents and relevant professionals around the youth.

From student to participant

Our ambition is that Plan B becomes a place where youths get the opportunity to discover what they can do.

A place where you do not only solve tasks because the teacher says you must, but because what you do should be used for something.

Where Danish, mathematics and English become tools to create, communicate, understand and act in the world.

Where the youths get the opportunity to take responsibility, contribute to the community and experience that their abilities have value to others. It is this development we would like to invite you to join.

Employment and application

The position is 37 hours per week with commencement as soon as possible after November 1. Salary and terms of employment follow the applicable collective agreement between KL and the Danish Teachers’ Association according to the principles of new pay. A criminal record extract will be obtained.

The employment is subject to Lejre Municipality's child and youth policy.

Application deadline is October 25, 2026 and interviews will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

If you have questions about the position, you are always welcome to contact department head Peter Busk at phone number 22807597.
