About the job

Are you a dynamic, resourceful and proactive anesthesiologist? Do you have ambition to master anesthesia for advanced surgery and intensive care of acute, severe conditions such as head trauma, intracerebral hemorrhage, spinal cord injuries and highly specialized neurological diseases?

Are you also a reflective physician and strong communicator, who can meet patients and relatives with presence and overview in some of their most critical life situations?

And are you a collaborative colleague who can – and will – bring out the best in your collaborators, both internally and externally, even when pace is high and pressure great?

If you recognize yourself in this, you may be the department physician we are seeking.

In a healthcare system in constant change and under increasing pressure we value not only strong professional competencies but also your ability to participate as an active team player. We emphasise that you have a holistic understanding of the organization, and that you contribute to creating a strong professional and social community – for we believe we succeed best when we lift collectively.

About the Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care

The department is located in new bright premises in the North Wing at Rigshospitalet, and houses: Neurointensive Care Unit; which is the Nordic's largest with 16 beds. The department receives and treats all intensive care and surgery-demanding neurosurgical patients (SAH, TBI, SDH) in East Denmark, as well as all highly spinal cord injured patients and a selection of highly specialized neurological conditions (e.g., Guillain Barré, myasthenia, status epilepticus and a number of diagnostic “”emergency” cases).

Neuroanesthesia Section; which provides medical anesthesia and operative assistance in 5 operating theatres and 2 neurointerventional rooms, including about 300 pediatric anesthesias per year. The area concerning intraoperative MRI is under development. There is anesthesia for an increasing number of neuroradiological interventions (currently about 700/year) and MR scans (currently about 700/year, mostly children) with anesthesia involvement. Our recovery ward with 10 beds handles about 4000 recovery courses/year.

The department is characterized by high professionalism with many skilled and professionally ambitious doctors, and delivers neuroanesthesiologic and neurointensive care at the highest international level, as well as a high general intensive care professionalism. The department is also deeply involved in the development of organ donation.

The department has undergone rapid development, and we are proud to have a well-established research group with one professor and four lecturers, an internationally accredited fellowship, as well as an innovation laboratory aimed at technological and organizational innovation that drives improvements in both patient care and the work environment.

In addition, we have ongoing specialists in SSAI training in intensive care as well as Perioperative Medicine and Management (POMM). All doctors in the department have the opportunity to take on responsibilities and contribute to professional and organizational development.

The department is characterized by an ambitious and good atmosphere, good relations with our partners: neurosurgeons, neurologists, spinal surgeons and interventional radiologists and a close and good collaboration between the professional groups.

As a department physician you will join a team of about 22 specialists covering the on-call function (double coverage) in the shifts.
