About the job
One of our clinical nurse specialists has taken another position in the department, and we are therefore now seeking a clinical nurse specialist who is passionate about clinical nursing, has strong professional ambitions and can translate knowledge, research and professional reflection into the development of practice.
We are looking for you who see patient-centered nursing as the core of your professional effort. You are motivated by examining, qualifying and developing the nursing we offer our patients and relatives, and you wish and are able to make your colleagues professionally stronger. You can approach concrete clinical problems, challenge established workflows and set the direction for the long-term development of nursing.
With us, clinical presence and high professional ambitions are two sides of the same coin. We believe that the development of nursing begins with a deep understanding of patients' needs and the clinical daily life – and requires professional expertise, systematic work and the courage to challenge existing practice.
You will become part of a strong professional community with the department's clinical nurse specialists, researchers, clinical educators and managers. Together we work to strengthen the quality of nursing and develop the nursing care of the future for cancer patients.
Your task: to improve nursing - in practice
The position is located in the Clinic for Lung Cancer and Neuroendocrine Tumors as well as in the Clinic for Urinary Tract Cancer and Rare Cancers. The two clinics are responsible for different patient groups and professional issues and operate as independent units with shared management and a clinical nurse specialist. This requires your ability to create professional direction and coherence across them, while taking as a starting point each individual clinic.
You must be able to create room for qualified professional reflection, challenge and nuance nursing perspectives and contribute with knowledge and analyses that move us forward. You must be able to communicate complex issues clearly and professionally convincingly, e.g. at nursing conferences, in teaching and in professional forums.
We expect you to be able to work both close to practice and strategically. Quality development, implementation and research projects are important tools when they contribute to strengthening nursing and creating value for patients. The clinical work and the development of nurses' professional competence is, however, the central driving force of your effort. Experience in the cancer field is an advantage but not a requirement, and for applicants with a Ph.D. there will be an opportunity to combine the position with research.
Department of Cancer Treatment
The Department of Cancer Treatment has about 500 employees. We are divided into five sections, each consisting of several diagnoses-related clinics that contain outpatient clinics and/or inpatient wards. The department prioritizes a highly qualified interdisciplinary effort with a high degree of personal continuity for our patients. With us, good relationships with our patients and relatives are essential in order to tailor our treatment offers to each patient's wishes and needs and ensure optimal support in their disease course.
Outpatient Clinic for Lung Cancer and Neuroendocrine Tumors, Clinic 4252
We specialize in the treatment of patients with lung cancer, pleural cancer and neuroendocrine tumors. We also manage the planning of radiotherapy for patients with blood diseases. We meet patients at different stages and phases of their cancer journey. Patient journeys can last from a few months to several years. Our treatments are given with curative and palliative aim and consist of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy and radiotherapy.
We provide nursing of high professional quality, which is person-centered and includes the patient's family. We focus on creating equality in health by arranging individual trajectories for our patients, so that everyone receives equally good treatment. We provide support and existential care for the patients, and work to establish palliative care early and rehabilitation programs.
Outpatient Clinic for Urinary Tract Cancer and Rare Cancers, Clinic 4222
We specialize in the treatment of prostate cancer and bladder cancer, which constitute a large part of our patient group. We also treat patients with testicular cancer, which primarily affects younger men who are on the threshold of adulthood. We have a special focus on handling the issues that arise when a young person is struck by cancer.
We also treat patients with penile cancer and unknown primary tumors, for which we have a regional function. We also receive patients from across Denmark with adrenal cortex cancer and thymus cancer.
Our patient journeys last from a few months to several years. Our treatments are given with curative and palliative aim and consist of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and radiotherapy.
We strive for high professional standards and practice nursing based on the individual patient and their relatives. We provide support and existential care for the patients and always strive to create individual trajectories so that patients experience the highest possible quality of life in living with cancer.
We are looking for you who
- Have a relevant health sciences kandidatuddannelse (bachelor) and a solid clinical nursing professional understanding.
- Have high ambitions for nursing and can identify, analyze and qualify clinical issues that call for professional development.
- Have an eye for how research-based knowledge, clinical experience and patients' perspectives can be brought together and translated into better nursing.
- Are motivated by developing nurses and can create professional reflection, engagement and learning through supervision, teaching and clinical sparring.
- Can communicate and argue for nursing interventions at a high professional level and actively contribute to professional discussions and nursing conferences
- Have the courage to challenge existing practice and at the same time can create followership and collaboration on new solutions.
- Can work independently and purposefully, prioritize between different development needs and create progress in cooperation with the clinics' leaders and staff.
- See the value of interdisciplinary collaboration and can build relationships across clinic, research, teaching and management.
- Have knowledge of the cancer field or clinical skills that are relevant to contributing to the development of cancer nursing.
The essential thing is that you have a strong clinical professionalism, an investigative mindset and ambitions to develop both nursing and the nurses who perform it.
Your main tasks
- To be visible and active in the clinic with a focus on identifying and developing nursing where patients meet us.
- To strengthen nurses' professional competencies through clinical supervision, sparring, teaching and systematic professional reflection.
- To qualify nursing-related discussions and contribute with high professional quality at nursing conferences and in other professional fora.
- To identify needs for quality development based on patients' needs, clinical observations, research-based knowledge and current guidelines.
- To develop, implement and anchor evidence-based interventions so that new knowledge becomes an integrated part of clinical practice.
- To contribute to professional direction and coherence in the two clinics in close cooperation with the ward's chief nurse and other partners.
- To initiate and lead relevant quality development and research projects when they can contribute to raising the quality of nursing.
A professional community with room for ambition
You will become part of an engaged professional environment where clinical nursing, research, teaching and development work closely together. You will have the opportunity to influence the direction of nursing and apply your professional competencies in a department with highly specialized patient pathways and complex nursing issues.
We prioritize a thorough introduction, close sparring and a strong collaboration with the department's other clinical nurse specialists, researchers, clinical educators and managers.
