Deputy Director with a focus on operations and strategic leadership

Then you may be the deputy director we are seeking for the Tax Administration's Deputy Directorate for Excise, where you will be responsible for about 150 employees.

Your area of responsibility

The Tax Agency is part of the Tax Administration under the Ministry of Taxation and Growth and has about 4,600 employees spread across the country. The agency is divided into seven areas, where Excise is part of the Business area. In Business we are about 950 employees including about 50 managers.

Business has overall responsibility for value added tax (VAT), taxes, duties and registration regarding businesses. This includes, among other things, the responsibility for guidance and case processing of especially small- and medium-sized enterprises' VAT and tax matters as well as planning and execution of control activities. The work must ensure that companies pay the correct VAT and the correct taxes and duties on time.

As deputy director in Excise you report to the Director of Professional Affairs for Business, and you will be part of the top management in the professional area together with the director and the four other deputy directors.

In Excise you will have management responsibility for 6 leaders and a department with about 150 employees.

Excise contributes to ensuring that companies in Denmark pay the excise duties they owe – no more and no less. Specifically, Excise works with control, guidance and case processing of companies' excise matters. Excise works to develop and optimize operations, deliver against set goals, and contribute to making it easy for the many companies that want to comply with their obligations in the excise area and difficult for the few who do not.

Excise actively participates in efforts to put each company at the center and ensure predictability, clarity and fairness in the meeting between the Tax Agency and the company through, among other things, close dialogue with the business community, simplification and good guidance in a complex and extensive regulatory framework.

About you

We imagine that you are strategically minded with a natural ability to translate the organization's needs into actions and ensure good solutions for both the Tax Agency and the companies we work with . You master both operations and development and manage to prioritize both.

You must ensure stable operations while being driven to change – so the solution to the task continues to improve and adapt to new needs in the environment. As part of and responsible for a management group you must also have an eye for both your own and your leaders' development, just as you must master constructive collaboration to succeed in the position. Both internally in the organization, between authorities and with the business community. You must also help ensure continued high well-being among our skilled leaders and employees.

You have a relevant higher education degree, and if you have experience with strategic level leadership and with leading leaders in a politically governed organization, that would be an advantage.

You should be aware that your employment is conditional on you being able to obtain security clearance and maintain this clearance during your employment in the position. If you are already security cleared in another public authority and you are offered the position, we wish to take over your security clearance from your current workplace if the conditions for this are met.

Salary and terms of employment are negotiated in accordance with the framework agreement for contractual employment of managers in the state. The position is placed in salary grade 2, corresponding to salary frame 38. The position is expected to be filled on a permanent basis. You will be employed in the Ministry of Taxation and Growth with associated institutions.

The Business Area has today its headquarters in Taastrup. Deputy Director for Excise will have the workplace in Højbjerg. Travel across the country is to be expected as we have offices all over Denmark. The workplace is Lyseng Allé 1, 8270 Højbjerg.
