The Cultural School is facing a historic development. We shall build a new cultural school, develop new offers and create even stronger communities around music, art and culture.

Therefore we are seeking an ambitious and visionary leader who will fight for culture's place in society and who insists on creating opportunities, even when the path to do so may be difficult. We are not looking for a leader who is satisfied with the status quo. We are looking for a leader who sees opportunities where others see limitations, and who persistently works to bring culture out to even more children, young people and adults.

You see culture as more than teaching and leisure activities. You believe that culture creates communities, formation, well-being and quality of life. Therefore you work persistently to make culture accessible to even more people and to strengthen the culture's place in both the local community and the political agenda.

Brønderslev Municipality is in a unique situation in that over the next years a new cultural school will be built. The school will become part of Fabrikken, a combined cultural center of about 7,000 m2. You will therefore play a central role in shaping the new cultural school and in opening the cultural school even more to the world.

Cultural School for Brønderslev Municipality

As the head of Brønderslev Cultural School you will be responsible for about 20 dedicated employees, many of whom have conservatory and university backgrounds. The Cultural School offers instruction for both children and adults (as an evening/continuing education program) and is a crucial component of the municipality's cultural life - through teaching, organizing concerts, as the organizer of Living Music in School and through projects in collaboration with schools, day-care centers, housing associations, etc.

The lives of children and young people are changing in these years. We need to experiment with new ways of organizing cultural school teaching to involve as many as possible. This is a big and important task. Therefore you, the staff and the rest of the leadership team must focus on how the work with the cultural subjects can be strengthened in collaboration with, for example, schools and day-care facilities.

Brønderslev municipality is a development-oriented municipality. We are a smaller municipality, but our ambitions are large. Yours should be as well!

You will work across the municipal administrations and the children and culture area in close collaboration with civil society. It is therefore crucial that you are proactive and idea-driven and can involve the cultural school in relation to other subject areas in the municipality.

Your primary tasks will be to

• ensure that the Cultural School is a visionary cultural institution
• develop new offerings and collaborations that can strengthen cultural education in general
• ensure a good balance between development, operations and finances. You have full responsibility for the school's budget
• participate in an active management team and lead and develop 20 employees
• maintain the good and strong working environment at the cultural school
• advise and support the political level with professional perspectives and development proposals
• build support for the cultural school's visions among politicians, partners and citizens

We are looking for you who

• have co-creation and cross-disciplinary work as part of your DNA
• have experience with professional leadership and/or personnel management
• have experience working in a cultural institution

Your personal competencies – you

• are proactive, decisive and goal-oriented
• are good at building relationships and can inspire, motivate and create well-being
• have knowledge of and preferably experience with, for example, music, culture and/or school world
• have a relevant education as a musician, teacher, academic or similar. Perhaps you also have a management education?
• have the courage to set direction and create followership
• work persistently and do not give up when development processes become complex
• can translate visions into concrete actions and results

Salary and terms of employment

The position is paid according to the relevant collective agreement. The salary is expected to be in the level of approx. 51,000-56,000 DKK per month excluding pension, depending on qualifications and experience. Pension contributions are additional under the applicable collective agreement.

First interview will be conducted on 5 November and second interview on 11 November. Applicants who progress to the second interview will take a Garuda test. Feedback on the Garuda test will be provided before the second interview.
