About the job

Platangårdens Vuggestue og Børnehave er en selvejende institution, der efter at have haft konstitueret ledelse siden april 2026 nu søger den ”rigtige” leder til at videreføre og videreudvikle de ting, der er igangsat i huset.

We embrace children aged 0-6 years and today house 36 kindergarten children, 41 nursery children, and around 30 staff members – janitor, kitchen lady, pedagogy assistants, pedagogical assistants, teachers, newly appointed deputy head, and you as leader.

Platangården is a house that is in positive development and where there is intensive work to develop and secure the well-being among children, parents and staff. We work purposefully with the development of pedagogical practice with a particular focus on relationships, diversity and inclusion, as well as the development of the pedagogical learning environments. Development takes place in close collaboration with the Child Development Center and Pedagogical Psychological Counseling.

Alongside the focus on the core task – the children’s learning and well-being – there is targeted work to ensure staff well-being and professional development as a prerequisite for success with the core task. We place great emphasis on collaboration with the parents and also see that part of the work as our core task.

Platangården is located in the northern part of Randers city between apartment blocks, townhouses and villas. The nursery and kindergarten are physically housed in two separate buildings and there are large playgrounds on both sides of and between the buildings. The buildings are well equipped with good space – and there are 4 nursery groups and 3 kindergarten groups.

The institution is characterized by great diversity on several levels, which demands high flexibility and open-mindedness toward children and parents. Since Platangården is located in a so-called defined exposed residential area – socially vulnerable – extra financial resources have been allocated to staff additional personnel.

At Platangården we can offer you

  • An environment with a positive and recognizing view of children, as well as a resource-oriented language
  • An skilled and experienced staff group that sees professional development as an important part of daily life
  • An institution with a culture that sees diversity and difference as a strength
  • Good collaboration in the form of parent support and an engaged parent board
  • An institution in development, where there is room to grow and ample opportunity to contribute to continued development

As leader at Platangården we expect you to

  • Ensure a safe institutional life for the children, so Platangården becomes an institution that succeeds with the task and is chosen by both families and staff. Where the shift from the nursery to the kindergarten is experienced as a coherent process for child, parents and staff
  • Have a strong professional leadership in relation to pedagogical and personnel management and maintain a strong focus on setting direction for and uniting both units in one institution
  • Create space for professional development across the whole institution
  • Coordinate staff across groups and stimulate collaboration toward common goals
  • Be clear, accessible and present in your leadership style
  • Collaborate with children, parents, staff, the municipality and other self-governing day-care institutions
  • Foster an open and close collaboration with both the institutional board and the parent board
  • Create and develop a well-functioning leadership team consisting of the deputy head and you.
  • Be educated as a pedagogue

We value the following professional and personal competencies

  • You have a relevant leadership qualification, practical experience as a leader or are eager to continue your education in leadership
  • You are decent, trust-building, trustworthy and strong in relationships, which is expressed in your way of cooperating and meeting both children, parents and staff
  • You are action-oriented and clear in your communication, but also able to be curious and, in challenging situations, keep an overview and in your conflict resolution be clear, action-oriented and proper
  • You are visible and competent in the pedagogical daily life across the whole institution
  • You are structured and can create an overview and meet deadlines with many balls in the air
  • You can work with financial management, IT and administration as a natural part of the job

Leadership in a self-governing institution

As leader at Platangården you report directly to the institution’s board. You will be responsible, under the supervision of the board, for the daily pedagogical and administrative operations within the framework of Randers Municipality’s child policy, as well as the municipality’s defined goals and framework for the day-care work.

In this context, you work closely with the municipality’s administrations, the Child Development Center, Pedagogical Psychological Counseling, the Family and Counseling Center and other relevant municipal units.

In addition to the institutional board, you will work closely with the parent board and you will also have a close and rewarding collaboration with the municipality’s other 12 self-governing day-care and leisure institutions – including the possibility of a mentoring arrangement within that framework.

Salary and employment

The salary is set on the basis of the applicable collective agreement and a concrete assessment of your education, your documented professional experience, and your professional and personal qualifications.

Prior to final employment, references as well as a child and criminal record check are obtained.
