About the job

  • Are you passionate about creating change for children and young people in vulnerable families
  • Do you see value in supporting children's general communal activities
  • Do you have experience with contact-person work and practical pedagogical support in the home
  • Are you strong in cross-professional collaboration with caseworkers, family workers, psychologists, schools, clubs and day-care facilities
  • Are you ready to start early and flexibly in the interventions
  • And can you operate in both formal and informal settings, and bring positive energy around you.

Then maybe you are our new colleague?

The development-oriented work is characterized by cases that are often complex and challenging, and there is a need for either preventive, anticipatory or intervening actions for a period that ensures the child’s or adolescent's development and well-being in their close care, school or education environment. It requires strong social-pedagogical competencies to be able to form relationships and understand the degree of complexity of the problems, including supporting and motivating change for the child, the young person and the family.

We work when the children, the young people and the families need us. Therefore, the working hours will vary between morning, day and afternoon hours, and occasionally evenings and weekends may be required. In return, you largely plan your own workday, and there is the possibility to work from home with documentation and other written work.

Your most important tasks

To implement interventions in families as well as with children and young people following authorization from the Children's and Youth Advisory Service in accordance with the Children’s Act § 32, subsection 1, no. 2 (practical, pedagogical or other home support) and § 32, subsection 1, no. 3 (contact person for the child, the young person or family). The interventions are carried out as part of the Family House’s offerings and aim to support the goals set by the authorities, with the aim of strengthening the child’s or the young person's well-being, development and opportunities to act.

  • Practical pedagogical support: As an employee in practical pedagogical support you work in the family's own home to strengthen the family's resources and create the best possible conditions for the child’s development. You assist the parents in creating structure, predictability and safe frames in everyday life and contribute to the development of parental competencies through guidance, training and pedagogical support. Tasks may include support for establishing daily routines, working on the child’s well-being and development, school attendance, cooperation with day-care facilities and schools, and supporting the family’s ability to handle everyday challenges independently.
  • Contact person for children, young people and families: As a contact person you support children, young people and families who need special help. The task is to establish and maintain a trusting relationship focused on well-being, development and mastery of everyday life. You function as a stable adult who, through relationship work, guidance and motivational support, helps the child, the young person or the family achieve the goals set in the intervention. Tasks may include support for schooling, leisure, social relationships, networks, daily structure, as well as coordination and collaboration with relevant professionals and partners.

We are looking for a colleague who

  • puts the child/the young person at the center
  • is educated as a pedagog
  • has experience with contact-person work and/or practical pedagogical support in homes
  • can work goal-focused and has experience in creating developmental interventions for children, young people and families
  • can work independently on tasks involving vulnerable children, young people and families
  • has a pronounced cross-disciplinary mindset and flair for collaboration across authorities, practitioners, schools and day-care facilities
  • is well-versed in writing and systematic in their approach to documentation and scheduling of their own working time
  • can create structure in a sometimes chaotic daily life
  • can build relationships through common activities and interests and sees value in meeting children and young people in their own communities. This may be through sport, training, gaming, creativity, outdoor life or other activities that enable contact, motivation and development.

It is a strength if you have knowledge of and experience with

  • Diagnoses and psychiatry
  • Trauma
  • Family dynamics.
