About the job

Do you have a particular sensitivity to children with autism? Then you might be our new pedagogue at the Special Institution Troldemosen!

Would you like to use your pedagogical skills where the relationship, the small signals and the small advances really matter?

We are looking for someone who is genuinely curious about children who do not always can tell in words what they need. You who can remain calm and hold on when necessary – and change course when that is what is needed. You also know that the work can be demanding, unpredictable and at times challenging, but that this is precisely what makes it professionally exciting and meaningful.

We would very much like you to have experience with autism or the special education field. If you do not yet have that experience but have a special interest in autism and a desire to immerse yourself in the work, we would also like to hear from you. The most important thing is that you are passionate about the children and about the difference we can make together.

Welcome to Troldemosen!

Børnehuset Troldemosen is a special institution under Gentofte Municipality with about 40 children aged 0–7 years with various lasting physical and mental disabilities.

You will become part of a strong professional and engaged house, where pedagogues, aides, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and psychologists work side by side to create the best framework for the children’s well-being and development.

Troldemosen consists of four interdisciplinary teams, and each team takes care of up to 11 children with different and complex needs.

The basis for our work is a positive view on life and people. We start from what the children can do and the skills they master.

Your new everyday life at Mumitroldene

At Mumitroldene we have six children aged 3–6 years who have diagnoses within autism spectrum disorders (ASD), ADHD and other developmental challenges.

A common factor for the children is a very limited language, sensory challenges and a great need for adult support and guidance.

We start from each child’s resources and have close cooperation with the child’s parents. The children need a structured and predictable everyday life, and within that framework we create space for play, development and positive experiences.

Everyday life alternates between close 1:1 contact, play and activities with several children, meals, personal care, communication, sensory and movement. We also go on trips in our cargo bikes, visit the forest, playgrounds and the swimming pool – always based on the children’s needs and possibilities.

“What is special about work at Troldemosen is that we meet the children where they are. We start from what they can do, seize their initiatives and adapt to their daily form. It is about presence, care and creating small, but meaningful moments.”

  • Nikoline, future preschool colleague at Mumitroldene

As a pedagogue you will be the contact pedagogue for two children with responsibility for status descriptions and ongoing dialogue with the families. There is also time for documentation, meetings and professional sparring with the interdisciplinary team.

With us you can count on

  • High staffing levels and good resources for activities and presence with the children.
  • Good opportunities for courses, competency development and deepening in special education.
  • An inspiring interdisciplinary environment with experienced and academically well-grounded colleagues where you can use and further develop your special education skills.
  • A varied and different daily life with wind in the hair, good laughs and room for both play and reflection.
  • A work community where we help each other, share our wonder and together find solutions when something is difficult.
  • An engaged team, leadership that supports you, and a varied daily life with room for both professional discussions and good laughs.

We expect that you

  • Are educated as a pedagogue and have a particular interest in working with children with autism.
  • Would preferably have experience from the special education field and a desire to actively bring your professional knowledge into play.
  • Can be calm and present, even when plans and the children’s daily form change.
  • Can be patient and wait for the children’s initiative, but at the same time also take the initiative for play and activities.
  • Can be with the children in silence when they need it, and accommodate a daily life with sometimes high noise levels.
  • Thrive with both close 1:1 work and pedagogical activities with several children, where you can take responsibility independently.
  • Would like to share your knowledge, spar with colleagues and contribute actively to the shared pedagogical work.

Hours and working time

The position is 30–37 hours per week.

Our opening hours are 8–17 Monday to Thursday and 8–16 on Friday.

There will be meetings and administrative hours until 19 on every other Tuesday, where you get extra opportunities to immerse yourself together with your closest colleagues.

Also annually there will be about 5 common meetings, 2 children's parties, 2 parent meetings and 2 theme study days.

Are you curious? Then drop by for a cup of coffee!

Maybe you already know the special area and are looking for a place where you can use your experience, deepen your professional knowledge and become part of a strong work community. So come by for a cup of coffee, meet some of your perhaps future colleagues and get a feel for our daily life before you decide to apply.
