About the job

Are you passionate about creating safe and predictable structures for the children and excited to create engaging learning environments, both indoors and outdoors? Do you want to be part of becoming sing-along certified and be part of our professional community?

Then you should hurry to send an application to us.

We are looking for an educator for 35 hours for our kindergarten as of 1 November 2026.

Are you curious and do you want to make a difference for children's well-being and development? Do you have an overview and a positive approach to children, colleagues and parents? Can you create a daily routine where safety, presence and care go hand in hand with children's play, learning and development? Then you are the one we are looking for for our vacant position.

Holmebækkens Børnehus is an integrated day-care institution with 2 infant groups, 2 kindergarten groups and an intervention group currently for 4 children. We are located in the southern part of Herfølge right next to Holmebækskolen, with whom we work closely regarding transitions. In Køge Municipality there is area management, and we are part of Area South and Ejby together with five other day-care institutions.

In Holmebækkens Børnehus our pedagogical practice is based on ICDP and the 8 interaction themes. All staff have completed ICDP training in January 2026. New employees will be offered the training. We work from a fundamental belief that children's development occurs in relationships, and that an appreciative interaction is the key to well-being, development, learning and formation. We are in the process of building our profile, which is singing, language and culture.

This is to create vibrant and creative learning environments, where children have the opportunity to express themselves, find their voice and become part of meaningful communities.

We are focused on

  • Physical learning environments: To create clear play zones that support children's play and learning, both indoors and outdoors. You must therefore be able to reflect on and follow the children's cues.
  • Positioning: To have clearly defined roles for pedagogical staff that create balance between adult- and child-initiated activities. You must therefore be able to work closely with your colleagues to define your roles.
  • Formation and child perspective: To go "ahead", "beside" and "behind" in relation to children's activities and composition, and ensure children's participation and involvement in daily life. You must therefore be a validating adult who has the courage to discuss the child’s perspective with your colleagues.
  • Parent collaboration: To strengthen collaboration with parents through systematic dialogue and involvement in the children's daily lives. You must therefore spend time writing on Aula, be able to make analog postings in the institution's prepared areas for this. Together with your colleagues you should be able to reflect on what professional parent collaboration is.
  • Child communities: To motivate and engage the children, as well as support children in vulnerable positions through recognition and positive expectations. You must therefore have an eye for the fact that we are not all the same and that it may be necessary to treat individuals differently. You should focus on everyone being part of a community, where we often divide into smaller groups to create good relationships.
  • Play and learning: To ensure a childhood characterized by educational play, support children's language development and create recognizable routines for learning. You should therefore enjoy participating in play with the children, while making observations about what happens in the play.
  • Evaluation culture: To build a feedback culture and work systematically with evaluation to develop the pedagogical learning environments. You must therefore be ready to receive and give feedback to your colleagues. We implement language ladders for all children twice a year

Personal competencies

  • You are cheerful, honest and ambitious.
  • You are open, appreciative and outgoing in words and actions. You are good at communicating, building relationships and collaborating at all levels.
  • You are easily excited and contagiously enthusiastic.
  • You are able to meet children and colleagues with equality, respect and tolerance.
  • You can work both independently and in teams.

Professional competencies

  • You are trained as a pedagogue, preferably with experience from kindergarten.
  • You have strong relational skills.
  • You can reflect on your own and others' practice and you dare to contribute your ideas when we work together to create the best conditions for our children.
  • You enjoy working with children in vulnerable positions.
  • You must be able to express yourself in writing.

We would very much like you to visit before you apply.
