About the job

Kold College seeks an engaged study counsellor for our green education programs

Do you have an eye for people, can you build trust with young people – and do you also have a professional understanding of the green industries?

Then you could become the one who helps our students and apprentices find direction, stay on track and succeed with their education.

At Kold College we are looking for a study counsellor for Agriculture and Nature, who wants to make a real difference for young people entering a sector with plenty of opportunities.

You will be an important person in the students’ educational lives

Your main task will be to guide, support and follow our students and apprentices across the green education programs.

You meet the students where they are. Some need help choosing the right path. Others need support to succeed in their education, find an apprenticeship, or see opportunities after completing their education.

Therefore you will be both a sparring partner, a motivator and the one who can create an overview when the path isn’t always straight.

You will among other things

  • guide students and apprentices about education, internships and careers
  • conduct individual guidance conversations and follow up on students’ development
  • support students who need extra help to maintain their education
  • work closely with teachers, companies and colleagues around the individual student
  • help make visible the many career paths within the green professions
  • contribute to recruitment and activities that encourage more young people to choose a green vocational education
  • participate in developing our guidance efforts and the students’ overall educational experience.

A smaller part of the position will consist of teaching.

For example, this could involve subject-specific courses, introductions or teaching within areas where your own industry experience adds value. Teaching is thus part of the job – but guidance and working with students’ development are the core focus.

Who are you?

We imagine you have a professional background in the green sector – for example as a gardener, landscape gardener or from a related field – and you have solid experience from the industry. Or you have experience as a study counsellor or experience from primary and lower secondary education or other upper secondary education

The most important thing is that you are interested in people.

You are good at building relationships and meeting young people in different ways. You can listen, challenge and set direction, and you thrive in a daily routine where two days are rarely the same.

You do not necessarily need to already be an experienced study counsellor. If you have the professional background, the right approach to young people and the desire to guide, we are interested in hearing from you.

We would like you to

  • be professionally educated within a relevant green field and have a minimum of 5 years of work experience
  • have the desire and ability to guide, motivate and support young people
  • be able to communicate clearly and build trustful relationships
  • understand the green sectors and their opportunities
  • be able to collaborate with students, colleagues and companies
  • be curious, solution-oriented and good at maintaining an overview.

It is an advantage if you are already trained as a reading/writing counsellor – or are willing to train to become one as part of your professional development with us.

Experience with guidance or teaching is also an advantage, but not necessarily a requirement.

If you do not yet have relevant pedagogical or guidance-related competencies, we expect you to be open to further education.

You will be part of Agriculture and Nature

With us you will be part of a small and close team at Kold College’s green education programs in Odense.

We educate people for industries where there is a high demand for skilled tradespeople, and where sustainability, technology and new working methods continuously create new opportunities.

We believe strong professional education requires both skilled teachers, good employers – and people who can help students see their own possibilities.

That is where you come in.

A job with meaning and variety

You will have a daily life with a high level of contact and the opportunity to influence your own work.

Some days you will have individual conversations with students. Other days you will collaborate with companies or colleagues, participate in recruitment activities or stand in front of a group of students and share your professional knowledge.

The common denominator is that you help make a difference for the people who will shape the future green industries.

The position is full-time, 37 hours per week, and the workplace is Kold College’s Agriculture and Nature at Bjørnemosevej 190 in Odense.

Would you like to help the next generation get on the right track in the green professions?

Then we would love to hear from you.

Application deadline is Friday, October 23, and interviews will take place on an ongoing basis as well as in the last week of October.

Kold College encourages all qualified applicants to apply – regardless of age, gender, religion, ethnic background or affiliation.
