About the job

Do you want to use your clinical eye in a daily life where nursing and special pedagogy go hand in hand?

At Bøgehuset we are looking for a nurse who wants to take significant health professional responsibility and at the same time be an important part of the daily life for children with congenital deafblindness.

Bøgehuset's core task is special pedagogy. As a nurse your task is to handle the health professional effort around the children. You use your clinical assessments and your eye for their health and wellbeing both in independent nursing tasks and in the multidisciplinary collaboration.

You do not need to know the deafblind area beforehand . The most important is that you are professionally well-founded, curious and want to use your nursing expertise in a different and highly specialized environment.

You will get a special specialization

We know that work at Bøgehuset differs from most other nursing positions. Therefore we offer a structured introduction program with thorough training in both your health professional responsibilities and the special pedagogical methods and communication forms we work with.

You come with your nursing background. We ensure that you get the opportunity to build on it with specialized knowledge about our target group.

About the job: Nursing responsibility in a special pedagogical daily life

You will have clinical responsibilities and an important role in ensuring and developing the quality of the health professional effort at Bøgehuset.

At the same time you become an active part of the multidisciplinary team around the children. Here you contribute with your health professional observations and assessments, consult with colleagues and help strengthen the shared focus on the children's health and wellbeing.

In order to provide the best possible nursing support you must know the children and understand their individual needs and communication forms. Close contact is crucial so you can detect even small changes in their condition and respond to them.

Your nursing professionalism becomes a natural and important part of everyday life, where health, care and special pedagogy are closely linked. You bring your professional knowledge and your clinical eye into the joint effort around the individual child.

Your health professional responsibilities

You handle nursing tasks throughout your working time. In daytime there is also an opportunity to collect tasks that require special time for coordination, documentation and follow-up.

You will among other things be responsible for

  • Medication management: Professional administration of medicines and overview of the children's medical treatment.
  • Clinical observation and assessment: To detect, assess and respond to changes in the children's health condition. Also the small signs that can be difficult to read.
  • Health professional documentation: Quality assurance of journals, systematic documentation and follow-up.
  • Health professional collaboration: Contact with general practitioners and coordination of health professional courses.
  • Professional development and quality: To contribute to developing the health professional practice through professional assessments, sparring and follow-up.
  • Interdisciplinary sparring: To share your nursing knowledge with colleagues and strengthen the joint attention to the children's health.

Your nursing professionalism in the special pedagogical daily life

You are close to the children in daily life. It gives you an important basis for observing their health, assessing needs, and planning the nursing effort.

That means among other things, that you

  • Build close and trusting relationships with the children and learn their individual signals, reactions and needs.
  • Work with specialized communication , including total communication, tactile communication and sign language, as a natural part of care, nurture and companionship. You do not need to be able to do this beforehand! Most do not. You learn it with us.
  • Participate in daily routines and activities , including meals, personal care and pedagogical activities, where you contribute with your health professional knowledge.

You thus join the common task solution about the children, but with your own professionalism as an indispensable contribution.

We imagine that you

  • are a trained nurse with Danish authorization.
  • are a professionally well-founded nurse who wants to use your clinical knowledge in a highly specialized environment.
  • thrive with independent clinical responsibility and would like to contribute to developing the health professional effort.
  • want to share your knowledge and bring new perspectives into the interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • have an eye for the connection between the children's health, care, well-being and development.
  • thrive with both the clinical work and the close, relational contact with the children.
  • are curious to learn deafblind-specific communication forms.
  • can maintain calm and professional overview in situations with outwardly or challenging behavior.

Working hours and shift pattern

The position is initially 37 hours per week, but we also have the option to offer fewer hours if you prefer.

You will handle nursing tasks in day, evening and weekend shifts.

  • 2–3 days per week planned with possibility for continuous time for health professional documentation, coordination and follow-up. The remaining shifts are close to the children, where your nursing observations, assessments and interventions are part of the daily care and nurture.
  • A fixed evening shift one day per week.
  • Work every other weekend, both Saturday and Sunday, in day or evening shift.
