We are seeking an education and employment counsellor in Denmark's prisons, Prison Circle West for Nr. Snede Prison closed unit as of January 1, 2027.

In addition to your tasks with education and employment guidance, you will also help to support the coordination and running of AMU courses. You can expect teaching tasks in AVU with a focus on Danish and mathematics to become part of your responsibilities. The teaching assignment is not finally fixed, but with the right candidate it will be further defined. We expect defined teaching tasks for a period, or with fixed timetables. We offer education within HF-distance learning, AVU, FVU, OBU and AMU.

Nr. Snede Prison consists of an open ward with particular focus on vulnerable clients, and the closed ward where there is a department with community, a limited community ward with punishment and isolation spaces, a visitation department, and a treatment department. The prison can receive 178 inmates. There are various workshops attached to the prison including wood workshop, furniture production, building maintenance and green trades. Employment in the closed regime is centered on our assembly, which also includes wood trades.

Your responsibilities

Your daily tasks mainly consist of the following

  • Guidance and preparation of education plans in line with release plans
  • Competence to teach in AVU format with focus on Danish and mathematics

  • Practical and administrative tasks related to the delivery of courses and teaching
  • Development of the guidance role in close collaboration with the guidance team
  • Administrative tasks in connection with guidance
  • Contact with external partners including educational institutions.

About you

You have adult pedagogy experience and a solid knowledge of the education system – particularly within upper secondary education and vocational education. It is an advantage that you also have competencies to teach in AVU format within Danish and mathematics.

In addition you have a diploma in education, employment and career guidance (DUEK) or equivalent qualifications. If you do not already have the qualification or equivalent documented qualifications, you must be prepared as part of your employment to begin DUEK no later than within the first two years after hire.

We particularly expect that you

  • can motivate inmates to education. Work in a holistic manner and can support the inmate in choosing realistic educational paths

  • are flexible and prepared that no day is the same
  • are self-driven but also reflective, and know when you need colleagues to brainstorm with
  • are independently able to structure your own teaching programs, or collaborate on existing programs
  • have didactics in place and are sharp in an alternative teaching environment with a target group that requires extra from your relational skills.
  • are able to be solution-oriented and see opportunities rather than limitations – without compromising the rules

We also expect you to be self-driven, proactive, service-oriented and ready to engage in a complex everyday life where the task of moving inmates further towards a life without crime, among other things through education, is central.

Finally we place emphasis on you as a person being able and wanting to support a good working environment by having good humor and a willingness to work cross-disciplinary.

We offer

We offer an exciting job with many challenges, responsibility and influence in an environment where cross-disciplinary collaboration is at the forefront.

We also offer

  • A work community where we strive to approach tasks with high professionalism and integrity
