About the job

Educator for Humlehaven – special education, professional expertise and strong collegiality

Humlehaven is seeking an educator who wants to make a difference for children who need something different and more than what the general day care can offer.

At Humlehaven we are a specialized day-care under Stavnsholt Children's House. We have 15 children distributed across three rooms with five children in each room. Here we work closely together to create safe, developmental and meaningful everyday life for children with diverse developmental and communicative needs.

With us you do not have to handle the task alone. You will be part of a house with many educators who have long specialized education experience, and where we prioritise professional sparring, knowledge sharing and time to reflect on our pedagogical work.

There must be time for professionalism

We know that special education requires more than good intentions. Therefore we work according to annual norm. This means that part of your working time is planned as time for preparation and other tasks away from the child group.

It helps ensure that preparation time is not just something we would like to have when daily life allows it – it is designed as a real part of your work.

With us you will therefore get

  • Fixed preparation time as part of your annual norm
  • Room meeting every week
  • Small groups of children
  • Experienced educator colleagues with extensive special education knowledge to spar with in everyday life
  • Opportunity to plan, evaluate and adjust the pedagogical effort
  • Close collaboration with colleagues, management and relevant professionals around the children

We work with structure, visual support, communication and relationship work. Our pedagogical approach includes concepts such as tuned pedagogy, Low Arousal and demand adaptation, where we are curious about what lies behind the child's behavior and how we as adults can adapt our approach and the framework around the child.

We believe that children do the best they can with the prerequisites they have. Therefore it is our task to create the conditions for them to succeed.

You also come close to the families

Parental collaboration in a specialized day care is in many ways different from the mainstream area.

We follow the children and their families closely, and over time we get to know the families really well. We are allowed to share both progress and joy when something succeeds – but we also stand with the parents in periods where family life can be difficult and demanding.

This means that parental collaboration with us is meaningful. There may be difficult conversations, different perspectives and situations where we as professionals must be able to stay calm and clear. But there is also the opportunity to build strong and trusting relationships with the families and experience that the collaboration around the child actually makes a difference.

We see the parents as some of the most important partners around the child – they know their child best, and we must together figure out what helps the child to thrive and develop.

We will also be honest about the task

Some of our children need special support to navigate the daily demands and expectations. When situations become difficult or overwhelming, some children may react physically and outwardly. Therefore we work to understand what lies behind the child's reactions, and how through a tuned pedagogical approach we can prevent, create security and help the child on.

We do this together, and we emphasise that we as colleagues are curious about each other's perspectives and help each other find good solutions.

We do not expect you to know everything in advance, but that you want to learn and develop your practice together with us.

Who will your supervisor be?

You will have a supervisor who is themselves trained as an educator and speech-language pathologist, and who therefore has a particular interest in special education, language and communication.

I am relatively new as a leader, and I will not pretend to have all the answers. Instead you will get a leader who wants to be close to the professionalism, who is curious about staff perspectives, and who likes to spar about children and pedagogical practice.

I am also quite skilled with IT, systems and structure – and I focus on creating frameworks that make everyday life as manageable as possible.

And there is one thing I think is important

When you are at work, there must be proper frameworks for you to do your job. And when you are off, you must have your freedom.

Maybe you are our new colleague if you are..

  • Curious about children’s development, communication and behavior.
  • Interested in working with special education – experience is an advantage, but not a requirement.
  • Able to stay calm and maintain an overview, even when situations become challenging.
  • Flexible and able to adjust your approach to the child’s needs.
  • Eager to contribute to a professional community where we share knowledge, reflect and learn from each other.
  • Meet both children, parents and colleagues with openness, respect and good humor.

Can you see yourself at Humlehaven? Then we would really like to hear from you!

The application deadline is far in the future (November 15), as we conduct interviews on an ongoing basis, but we hope to welcome our new colleague in November or December 2026.

If you have questions or would like to visit Humlehaven, you are very welcome to contact department head Maria at 72 16 50 40 or educator Lizette at 72 16 37 97.
