Educator sought for trips, play and experiences with a happy boy

Do you have experience with pictograms and a desire to create safe and active moments based on the child's interests? Then we are looking for an educator for a fixed 1:1 assignment of 5 hours per week.

About the task

You will be a steady support for a happy and loving boy who loves humor, presence and contact. He is particularly interested in means of transport and enjoys going on trips with bus, train and metro. He is also fond of animals, playgrounds, the swimming pool and short trips in the local area.

The boy has Fragile X syndrome as well as diagnoses within the autism spectrum and ADHD. He needs close pedagogical support, clear communication and predictability. New activities and changes can require time, and it is therefore important that you help him understand what will happen. Pictograms and a small visual daily schedule work well and can be used to create an overview of your time together.

His verbal language is limited, but developing, and he can express basic needs and wishes. He also uses pictograms and the communication device TD Snap on his iPad, which can support him when it is difficult to formulate himself.

The task is about creating good and manageable activities based on his interests and daily form. You can, for example, go on trips with public transport, visit a playground or library, go to the swimming pool or shop for groceries and make something simple together. You can also stay at home and play or find a calm activity.

The boy can become overstimulated and needs breaks and support to find calm. You must therefore be able to read his signals, adjust the pace and help him with regulation and good transitions between activities.

As part of the task you also help with personal care. He uses a diaper and needs help with toilet visits as well as guidance for hand washing.

About you

You are a trained educator with a calm and clear approach. You can create structure without pressuring and adapt the activities to the boy's needs, energy and signals.

It is a big plus if you have experience with pictograms or other visual communication. You must be able to work independently in a 1:1 relationship and be aware of safety when you are out and about, as the boy is not traffic-safe and needs close guidance.

Working hours

The position is 5 hours per week.

The hours are between 10:00–16:00 and rotate between Saturday and Sunday. The family is flexible regarding the planning of the days.

There is a permanent position with expected start in early October.
