About the job

Do you want to help develop strong children's communities?

We have a good pedagogical practice – and we would like to become even better together with you.

Are you passionate about creating learning environments where all children feel they belong, are taken seriously, and have the opportunity to participate actively in the community? Are you professionally curious, enjoy playing with children, and focused on how your own pedagogical practice makes a difference?

Then we would like to meet you!

At Børnehuset Svanen we are looking for a professionally engaged pedagogue for our kindergarten. We are looking for you who has an eye for each child's resources and at the same time is committed to how we together create safe, developing and inclusive communities for all children.

With us you get colleagues who are happy to share their professionalism, ask questions about practice, and develop new possibilities together. We believe that quality is created in collaboration – through being present with the children, professional reflection and the courage to continually adjust what we do.

Welcome to Svanen – a house with nature, movement and professional curiosity

We are a cozy kindergarten about a 10-minute walk from Lyngby Station. We have a large garden and playground where children can explore nature, move, experiment and be curious about the world around them.

Our profile is GREEN – nature and movement . We have both a nature workshop and a movement room of 40 m², which give us good framework for creating varied play and learning environments – both indoors and outdoors.

Svanen is a house with around 96 curious children, ten pedagogues, two PAU-trained staff, two METU-pedagogical students, one pedagogy student and ten assistants. We are organized into three teams, where we base ourselves on the children's age, needs and development. This gives us the opportunity to plan activities that take the individual child's zone of proximal development as a starting point and at the same time strengthen the child’s community.

We help each other across the house and see diversity in experiences and competences as a strength. For us there must be room for both newly educated and experienced pedagogues – and for learning from each other.

Small learning environments with big significance

We prioritise small learning environments throughout the day, because we know that the everyday organization affects children’s opportunities to participate, play and develop relationships.

We are focused on questions such as

  • How do we create participation opportunities for all children – including those who have difficulty finding their place in the community?
  • How can we arrange and adjust our learning environments so that more children feel inclined and have the opportunity to participate?
  • How do we support the children’s self-regulation, curiosity and willingness to act independently?
  • How can we, through our relationships and actions, create safety, development and learning?

We work from a resource-oriented view of the child, where we are curious about the child's perspective and the possibilities that arise when we adjust our pedagogical practice.

For us it isn’t just about what the individual child should learn, but also about how we as adults create the conditions for the child to succeed together with others.

We believe that children develop competencies by having the opportunity to explore, try out, play and act. Therefore we are focused on creating frameworks where children experience safety and have space to explore the world.

We develop our professionalism together

At Svanen we have a culture where we inspire each other, share experiences and examine our pedagogical practice. We do not expect you to know everything in advance, but we expect you to be eager to be professionally curious, contribute with your perspectives and actively participate in the shared development.

We work among other things with

  • Small learning environments and relationships: We are focused on the importance of the relationship between child and adult and the children’s interrelated relationships.
  • Annual wheel and theme work: We work with common themes throughout the year. Examples from this year are Spring – and it sprouts and Dangerous play .
  • Professional competence areas: All pedagogues are lead holders of a competence area, for example nature, movement, culture or language, and collaborate with colleagues across the house.
  • Professional reflection and feedback: We use the Lyngby-Taarbæk Municipality Quality Guide and work systematically with evaluation, feedback and professional sparring – among other things at our meetings.
  • Schedule for action and evaluation guide: We use the tools to target, follow up on and develop our pedagogical interventions over the year.
  • SAL – Systemic Analysis of Learning Environments: We examine the learning environment’s impact on the children’s well-being, development and participation and use our reflections to qualify practice.

Our professional beacons help keep the focus on the quality of the learning environments both indoors and outdoors.

We are particularly focused on the children’s development and self-regulation, good parent collaboration and reflective pedagogical practice, where we continually examine our own significance for the children’s opportunities.

We want professional methods and tools to make sense in practice and be felt in the children’s everyday life.

We imagine that you …

  • Are a trained pedagogue and want to actively bring your professionalism into play.
  • Are focused on the importance of relationships for children's well-being, development and learning.
  • Have an eye for the individual child’s resources and for the barriers that can stand in the way of the child’s participation.
  • Can follow the children’s initiatives and at the same time take pedagogical responsibility to develop play and the community.
  • Are curious about your own practice and can engage in professional reflection, sparring and feedback with colleagues.
  • Wish to collaborate with parents and colleagues with a basis in multiple perspectives on the child’s well-being and development.
  • See nature, movement and play as valuable opportunities to create participation and learning.

Most importantly, you want to be close to the children, be curious about what happens in the interaction, and be willing to find new ways when something doesn’t succeed the first time.

We are proud of our practice – and curious about what we can learn

In our latest inspection report, Svanen was described as follows

“Børnehuset Svanen bærer præg af en meget tydelig organisering og reflekteret pædagogisk praksis.”

We are happy about that. At the same time we see professional quality as something that must constantly be developed and maintained. Therefore we need pedagogues who will contribute with their own competences and help raise new questions about our common practice.

Workplace: Børnehuset Svanen, Christian X's Allé 99, 2800 Kgs. Lyngby.

If you have any questions about the position, you are welcome to contact the head, Anne-Dorthe Underbjerg, on mobile 23 27 43 49 .

You are also very welcome to arrange a tour of Svanen, so you can experience the house, meet us and get a feel for our everyday life.

We look forward to hearing from you!

More than a workplace: With us you become part of a community with high professional standards. We prioritize quality in task solving and pull together to create the best results for the citizens of Lyngby-Taarbæk. A strong collegial atmosphere is invaluable. We help each other, laugh together and take an interest in who we are. We value diversity, and the strengths we each contribute through our background, personality and abilities.

With us you will find trusted leadership, well-being, good opportunities for professional and personal development, as well as room for creativity and innovation. At the same time, we maintain a good balance between work life and leisure life.
