Assens day care and school are located in the scenic Mariagerfjord Municipality. Our organization consists of day care, special day care, general school and after-school care (SFO) as well as Kort- og Kridthuset, which are our two special school divisions with corresponding special-SFO.

About our special provision

Korthuset: The students typically have difficulties in terms of attention, impulse control, self-regulation, interaction with other children and processing of sensory impressions, and are often characterized by complex problems that appear in relation to both academic, personal and social challenges. Some of the students have diagnoses such as ADHD, ADD and related additional diagnoses such as general learning difficulties, anxiety and autism spectrum disorders.

Kridthuset: The students in Kridthuset are characterized by being vulnerable children and young people with major family, social, emotional and well-being problems. The students are particularly characterized by having challenges in their attachment and may also have several diagnoses. Many of our students are placed in either foster families or in residential care. The students may be children who have difficulties related to social or emotional factors or with attachment disorders. The students often have broken school histories and a high degree of sense of defeat.

In order to benefit from teaching, a child needs to be receptive and in balance. Therefore both the social-pedagogical and the generally pedagogical efforts are given equal emphasis. This takes place in an environment where staff work closely together in teams around the individual student. Our starting point is the joint pedagogical foundation of Mariagerfjord Municipality, which is based on a systemic understanding in which we view the child as part of a larger context. What do we expect from our upcoming colleague and employee?

• That you are a trained Danish teacher and can teach in the early years and at the middle grades
• That you have experience in designing special pedagogical teaching environments
• That you have experience from the special education field
• That you are positive in your approach to others and problem solving
• That your practice is based on a solid professional and competent foundation (preferably neuro-pedagogical perspective and low arousal)
• That you are physically and mentally robust and clear about your own boundaries
• That you are stable and loyal throughout your professional career
