About the job

Do you want to help more people discover, visit and return to the National Museum of Natural History?

The National Museum of Natural History is poised for a significant development with the opening of the new national museum on 6 March 2027. With more exhibitions, events, lectures, guided tours and other activities, the marketing task will be bigger and more central.

We are therefore looking for a marketing staff member who can help translate the museum's many offerings into visibility, traffic, ticket sales and participation – and who at the same time wants to work systematically to measure what works.

About the position

You will be part of the communications team and report to the Deputy Director of the Museum for Communications. You will have close daily collaboration with the marketing manager, who has the overall professional responsibility for the museum's marketing efforts.

Your primary task will be to plan, coordinate and execute marketing activities – from campaigns and ticket sales to marketing of exhibitions, events, lectures, guided tours and other audience activities.

You must be able to drive your own marketing initiatives from planning to execution and follow-up, and thrive with both larger campaign series and more concrete, daily marketing tasks.

An important part of the role will also be to strengthen work on goals and impact. You will help to set relevant KPIs for campaigns and activities, track results and use them to assess and optimize the marketing efforts.

Your tasks will include

  • Planning and execution of marketing campaigns with a focus on traffic, ticket sales and conversion
  • Marketing of exhibitions, events, lectures, guided tours and other public activities
  • Translating marketing plans into concrete activities, timelines and campaign sequences
  • Practical work with relevant marketing channels and advertising
  • Development and adaptation of campaign materials and marketing content in collaboration with social media/content and graphic resources
  • Setting up KPIs and success criteria for campaigns and activities
  • Follow-up and analysis of results such as traffic, ticket sales, conversion, reach and engagement
  • Evaluation of marketing efforts and translating results into concrete recommendations and improvements
  • Collaboration with the commercial department on sales-promoting activities and ticket sales
  • Coordination of relevant external partners and suppliers.

Marketing with a view to both sales and the public

The museum's commercial team naturally focuses on sales and revenue. Marketing should support this, but at the same time ensure that the effort is anchored in target groups, relevance and the overall audience experience.

You must therefore understand what drives a ticket sale, and be able to see the longer customer journey from awareness and interest to purchase, visit and return visit. You should be able to ask questions about the target audience, message, channel, timing and effect – and use data to qualify the answers.

You don't need to be a data analyst, but you must be numerate, curious about data and comfortable working with KPIs and performance.

You will work with a wide range of activities and audience experiences – and translate them into marketing that generates interest, converts to visits and persuades people to choose the museum.

Our expectations

You have a relevant academic master's degree (e.g., cand.merc., cand. com.) in marketing, communications, digital marketing, business or similar and preferably 3–5 years of relevant experience with marketing, campaigns or sales marketing.

You have experience planning and executing marketing initiatives, preferably from culture, experiences, tourism or other organizations where working with audiences and target groups is central.

You have experience following up on marketing initiatives and can translate results into concrete actions. You have commercial understanding and interest in sales, and at the same time strong marketing professionalism.

You work in a structured and independent manner, with high work capacity and the ability to manage several parallel activities without losing overview or detail. You are proactive, get things done, and thrive with both planning and practical execution.

Good collaboration skills are important, as you will have a broad contact surface across the museum. You should be able to work independently on your own tasks, but also know when a task should be taken on in collaboration with the marketing manager or other professional functions.

As the museum is an international workplace, you are well articulated both orally and in writing in Danish and English.

Salary and employment terms

The position is anchored in the museum's communications team, and you report to the Deputy Director of Communications.

The appointment is as an academic staff member in accordance with the Circular on the State Academic Contract between The Ministry of Taxation and Academia. Salary under the AC collective agreement is seniority-based. There will be opportunity to negotiate allowances based on qualifications. The weekly working time is an average of 37 hours. We offer flextime.

The University of Copenhagen has established a new shared administrative organization, which is still being implemented. This entails ongoing changes and development of, among other things, workflows and collaboration interfaces.

The application deadline is 30 October 2026 with expected start on 1 January 2027 . If you are interested in the position, please send an electronic application with attachments via the Job Portal (click the link "APPLY FOR THE JOB" at the bottom of the posting)
