About the job

Enterprise Architect for DMI, Kort og Grunddata

Do you want to help create the framework and set the direction for IT architecture in a new, consolidated agency? Can you create an overview of capabilities and portfolio, identify synergies across an IT landscape and communicate and anchor architectural decisions? Then the job as an enterprise architect at DMI, Kort og Grunddata might be something for you.

About the job and what you can expect

DMI and the Climate Data Agency are merging and will become DMI, Kort og Grunddata on 1 December. Together we will take responsibility for a number of societally critical IT solutions and systems that must run 24/7. This includes, among other things, the supercomputer infrastructure that we operate on behalf of a Northwest European collaboration, which every day produces weather forecasts for society, and the Data Distributor, which every day delivers secure, stable and up-to-date base data to both the public sector and private companies.

We are therefore now looking for an enterprise architect who can help us create the framework for and set the direction of the IT architecture in the new, consolidated agency. We come from two different approaches, where one has been to develop and operate most things in-house, while the other has primarily focused on outsourced development and operation.

Going forward, we want to more often base the choice between in-house development, standard systems and vendor solutions on requirements such as capability, availability and economy, and this is where you and enterprise architecture come into play. You will become part of a new unit that will be responsible for IT architecture, technology roadmaps and implementation as well as IT economy.

It is our plan that you will, among other things, work with

  • Translating strategy into a unified target architecture and roadmap across business, data, applications and technology
  • Creating an overview of business capabilities, application portfolio and data and identifying overlaps, synergies and technical debt so the IT landscape can be optimized
  • Defining and anchoring reference architectures, principles and standards that also support information security and resilience
  • Advising management and portfolio management on investments, prioritizations and technology choices
  • Participating in councils and steering groups and ensuring that projects and procurements follow the common direction
  • Supporting solution architects and projects with scoping, dependencies and reuse of common components
  • Communicating the architecture and creating backing among stakeholders at all levels

About you and what you bring

The job is for you who have experience with IT architecture, have worked in practice with one or more architectural frameworks and are motivated by creating coherence across an organization rather than optimizing single solutions. You have a broad understanding of the entire stack and can move from business and processes to applications, data and infrastructure. At the same time you have experience with governance, reviews and evaluation of solutions in a larger organizational context.

We imagine you bring some of the following qualifications

  • Relevant higher education in, for example, computer science, software development, IT leadership or engineering
  • Experience with IT architecture from a cross-cutting or strategic role and with architectural frameworks, preferably FDA or in an agile context
  • Broad technical understanding of applications, integration, data, infrastructure and security
  • Experience with both in-house developed and vendor-delivered solutions and understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of both
  • Business understanding and experience linking strategy, economy and IT, including tying architectural decisions to costs and gains
  • Strong communication skills and experience advising management and building support across functional areas, projects and development teams
  • Ability to create overview in complex contexts and switch between strategic and concrete levels with a pragmatic approach and value focus

It is a full-time position at specialist- or senior-consultant level with an average of 37 hours per week. We are as a rule on-site, but there is the possibility to regularly arrange remote work.
