Environmental Professional Guidance, Customer Dialogue and Regulatory Relations

For a central professional role, Afatek is seeking an environmental manager who can combine solid environmental expertise with a practical and business-oriented approach to customers, projects and regulatory relations.

The position

As environmental manager you will be Afatek's environmental science specialist and sparring partner for the sales organization, customers and company management.

Most of your work will be tied to customers' road and infrastructure projects, where the use of slag gravel is subject to a number of environmental requirements. You will participate together with the sales organization in customer and project meetings and contribute with environmental knowledge and guidance on usage possibilities, applicable rules, documentation requirements and regulatory processes.

Customers are typically contractors within the construction and civil engineering sector, and you will also have contact with the customers' clients and advisors as well as relevant authorities. You help create an overview of the environmental frameworks and the necessary documentation so that the customer and their advisors have a solid basis to continue with the project and the relevant regulatory handling.

Afatek does not act as the customer's project advisor. Your role is to contribute environmental expertise and guidance based on Afatek's products, their use and relevant authority requirements.

Your primary tasks

You will among other things

• advise the sales organization and customers on environmental aspects in the use of slag gravel
• participate as Afatek's environmental science specialist in customer and project meetings
• advise on relevant environmental requirements, documentation needs and regulatory processes
• contribute with environmental expertise to the customers' and their advisors' work with regulatory handling
• participate in the dialogue with relevant authorities on environmental aspects related to Afatek's products
• prepare environmental screenings based on publicly available geodata and GIS
• follow developments in relevant environmental legislation and regulatory practice
• function as environmental science sparring partner for Afatek's sales, operations and management
• participate in relevant environmental-technical tasks, including as needed inspections and fieldwork
• contribute to Afatek's internal work with environment, occupational health and safety, quality, management systems and certifications.

Your background

You have a relevant environmental education, for example as cand.scient. in environmental science, bachelor in natural resources, environmental technology, engineer, geologist or similar.

We expect that you have a few years of relevant work experience. You may come from a private environmental company or consultancy where you have worked broadly with environmental issues and customer-facing projects. You may also come with experience from a municipality or other relevant authority.

The crucial thing is that you have a good understanding of environmental legislation, authority requirements and the authorities' case handling, and that you can translate your professional knowledge into concrete and usable guidance for customers and colleagues.

Knowledge of the residual product regulation and the Environmental Protection Act is an advantage. Experience with GIS, geodata, groundwater conditions or environmental-technical investigations will also be relevant.

You thrive on applying your expertise close to customers, colleagues and concrete projects. You have an eye for both environmental requirements and practical reality and can convey complex environmental matters clearly and understandably.

You are professionally well-founded and at the same time pragmatic in your approach. You can naturally engage in dialogue with contractors, developers and authorities and understand your role as Afatek's environmental science specialist.

You work independently and in a structured way and thrive in a smaller organization with short decision paths, broad contact surface and need to both deepen professionally and engage in concrete issues.
