About the job

Do you have solid experience with enterprise architecture and a desire to make your mark on Denmark’s digital education landscape?

At the Danish Agency for IT and Learning (STIL) we have already established a strong foundation for architecture work, and we are now seeking an experienced specialist who can drive it forward, create real value across the organization, and make good architecture a natural part of how we develop and operate IT.

About the position

You will become a central driver in an architecture function that has been established within the past year. Architecture vision, principles, governance and target pictures are in place, and technology radar and an architecture repository are being implemented.

Your task now is to consolidate, prioritize and anchor the work and ensure that the cross-cutting benefits of good architecture are concrete, measurable and visible for the organization. You will be the professional leader of the architecture function and will be responsible for the backlog and roadmap for the team’s efforts. You will work closely with three enterprise architects and associated solution architects – without line management responsibility.

Your key tasks

Professional architecture and standards

  • Further develop STIL’s architecture principles, target pictures and reference architecture across the IT portfolio.
  • Actively contribute to architecture reviews and ensure consistent use of common standards and components.
  • Assess and advise on technology choices, including consolidation and reduction of technical debt, as well as strategic considerations such as digital sovereignty.
  • Maintain and mature the technology radar, application landscape and architecture repository.

Coordination and prioritization

  • Own and drive the architecture team’s backlog and roadmap with a focus on creating value and progress.
  • Ensure alignment across architecture initiatives and organizational needs.
  • Identify architecture initiatives with concrete cross-cutting gains and make them measurable and visible, whether in terms of economy, resource use or technical quality.
  • Collaborate with the internal architecture group to anchor the architecture vision, principles, and standards in the individual departments.
  • Contribute to central strategic initiatives, including a new data platform and AI-related efforts.

Communication and anchoring

  • Translate architecture principles into clear messages for both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Create understanding and support in the organization for the choices and standards set by the architecture function.
  • Advise the executive board and management team in the technology governance group on architectural perspectives for strategic decisions.

Your profile

You are an experienced enterprise architect with several years’ experience in a similar role. You have strong professional insight and natural influence - not because you have a title, but because you can build followership with expertise, concrete solutions, collaboration and dialogue. You are comfortable going deep technically when required and can explain the same decisions to a director without losing the essence.

We imagine that you

  • Have solid experience with enterprise architecture in complex organizations with many systems and stakeholders.
  • Know frameworks such as FDA, TOGAF, ArchiMate or equivalents and know how to translate them into practice rather than theory.
  • Have technical insight into software architecture, including API design, integration and system landscapes, and can speak with developers and solution architects on their terms.
  • Have experience with modernizing legacy systems, and you can assess the potential of new technologies such as AI and apply it to concrete architectural recommendations.
  • Have knowledge of on-premise and hybrid architectural patterns as well as open source technologies, and you understand the strategic considerations of digital sovereignty and control of your own data.
  • Are used to working in politically governed environments and can navigate processes that require patience and consensus.
  • Communicate clearly and precisely, both to architects, developers and leaders, and can create a common language across disciplines.

As a person, you are professionally curious, persistent and dialog-oriented. You thrive on achieving results through collaboration, and you gain energy from making complex contexts understandable and from seeing good architecture become real change in the organization.

About the department and the culture

You will become part of the Office for Common Components and Registers, where you will be part of a small, dedicated architecture team and a broader professional community of architects across the organization. The culture is characterized by high professionalism, close collaboration and a leadership style that values trust and professional autonomy highly.

In STIL we combine the role of a regulator with the role of a development house with high professional ambitions and strong IT and data disciplines.

You should be able to see yourself in a culture where we both set high quality requirements and are eager to help create the solutions ourselves.

Why choose STIL?

The position gives you the opportunity to shape a new strategic function with a clear mandate in the leadership. You gain unique insight into and influence over the agency’s overall strategic development and the opportunity to strengthen your profile as a strategic architecture leader in a complex organization with mission-critical IT systems.

As part of the Ministry of Education, STIL has a clear societal mandate: to create the best digital frameworks for teaching, learning and well-being. At the same time, STIL is an ambitious organization where professionalism, collaboration and a strong collegial community are at the core.

Salary and terms of employment

The position is filled at the senior consultant level with a salary in the range of 650,000 – 800,000 DKK annually depending on experience (April 1, 2026 level). Pension included.

It is a condition of your employment that you can obtain security clearance through the PET level “Confidential” and that this can be maintained throughout your employment.

The workplace is Kalvebod Brygge 47 in Copenhagen with good transport options to and from Central Station.

There is also a possibility that the workplace is STIL’s office in Aarhus, but you must be prepared for frequent travel to Copenhagen. STIL in Aarhus is located at Lyseng Alle 1, 8270 Højbjerg.
