Vocational Basic Education Counselor (EGU) for the Youth Unit

Do you want to help create meaningful education and job pathways for young people?

In Slagelse Municipality we believe that all young people have the potential to succeed in education, employment and communities. We are therefore looking for a motivated and relationship-focused EGU consultant who can help young people move forward towards education, employment and greater independence through practical programmes and strong collaborations with businesses.

As an EGU consultant you will play a central role in the work of creating a bridge between young people, educational institutions and the labor market. You will also become the municipality’s key person in developing strong corporate relations and establishing concrete education and employment opportunities for young people.

The EGU area is a prioritized development area in Slagelse Municipality. We see a large and not yet fully exploited potential in creating more company-based programmes and getting more young people into EGU. Therefore we are seeking an EGU consultant who can both support individual young people and actively contribute to the development of the area through new collaborations, strong business networks and targeted actions.

You will be an important player in the municipality’s overall effort to strengthen young people’s attachment to the job market and create good transitions from school to education and work.

Who are we?

The Youth Unit consists of different professional disciplines who work closely together to create coherent actions for young people. Here you will find, among others, educational guidance counsellors, authority advisers, job consultants, outreach workers and administrative staff.

You will become part of the Education Guidance team, where you will have close collaboration with UU-guides and our two leisure job consultants. In addition, we have a strong and well-functioning collaboration with FGU, which is an important partner in supporting young people on their path to education and employment.

Together we work purposefully to create more pathways to education and employment for young people through, among other things

• Vocational Basic Training (EGU)
• Junior Master Apprenticeship
• Leisure Job Initiative

We see great potential in aligning the interventions across professional areas and partners, so that more young people get the right opportunities, experiences and support to progress well in education, employment or other relevant activities .

Your tasks

As an EGU consultant you will have a versatile role where relationship-building with young people goes hand in hand with outreach to companies and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Your main tasks will be to

• guide and support young people before, during and after an EGU pathway
• develop education plans and coordinate EGU pathways in collaboration with young people, companies and educational institutions
• outreach, establish and develop collaborations with private and public companies
• match young people with relevant company-based pathways, apprenticeships and educational opportunities
• follow up on pathways and support well-being, progression and retention
• participate in cross-disciplinary collaboration with UU-guides, leisure job consultants, FGU and other partners
• contribute to the development of the EGU area as well as documentation, follow-up and work in relevant subject systems

Practical information

It is a condition that you have a driving licence and can make your own car available. Travel in your own car is reimbursed at the state’s currently applicable low mileage rate.

The position is desired to be filled on 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Salary and employment conditions

Salary and employment terms are set according to the applicable collective agreement and with regard to the applicant’s experience, competences and educational background.

The expected salary range is approximately between DKK 35,500 and 45,000 per month.

The specific salary determination will depend on the individual applicant’s qualifications, experience and collective agreement placement .
