About us and the task

In the Agency for Education and Quality we work to ensure that political agreements and legislation are translated into practice, and that schools and educational institutions deliver high quality and comply with the rules. We do this through the following core tasks:

• As bridging builders between policy and practice, we ensure that ministerial support and sector support are knowledge-based, have oversight and a view of wholes.
• As the authority we support the sector in knowing and complying with the statutory requirements for their work and in organizing efficient operations with good quality. We supervise in the interests of students and trainees. And we administer subsidies and support schemes efficiently and correctly.
• As quality developers we stand on a foundation of deep insight into rules, knowledge and data. We translate legislation and political ambitions into content in subjects, tests and examinations as well as the design of education programs. And we support the sector in translating all of this into good quality in teaching and pedagogical practice.

The Center for Primary Education plays a central role in this work. We work, among other things, with implementing political agreements, rule development, ministerial support and guidance to the sector in the primary education area.

The coming years will bring a number of exciting tasks. In the run-up to summer 2027 we are preparing for all primary schools to adopt new curricula, just as we will contribute to the implementation of new rules on, among other things, absence and special education, prohibition of mobile phones, as well as the school’s care responsibility and access to physical intervention. Other tasks relate to a more practical school, use of AI in teaching, and the implementation of initiatives in the government platform, e.g. about a scientific lift in the 100 schools where students perform worst in Danish and mathematics.

About the position

We are seeking a number of experienced ACs with an interest in primary education. We are looking for generalists as well as specialists who have insight into primary education, children and young people in vulnerable positions, subjects and teaching, handling of quantitative data or legal guidance. What is common for the positions is that we need new colleagues who can lead projects, ensure progress and devise solutions to the challenges we encounter in practice.

Your tasks can include, among others

• Project management and implementation of initiatives that are meant to support quality in the country’s primary schools. This can include development projects to strengthen schooling for children and young people in vulnerable positions, digitalization and AI in teaching, more practical schooling, or dissemination of knowledge about what works in teaching students with reading or mathematics difficulties. concretely, the project management task could consist of negotiating agreements with external collaborators, supplier management, ensuring progress, quality assurance, engaging stakeholders and relevant professional environments and communication targeted at the political level, municipalities and schools.
• Supervision of municipalities’ quality agreements with the special education offers, where we continually handle cases and at the same time develop the supervision.
• Strategic communication to municipal administrations with a focus on clearly guiding on rules and inspiring good practice.
• Responding to requests for access to documents, press inquiries and inquiries from municipalities
• on the rules in the primary education area.
• Preparation of regulations and contributions to bills.
• Preparation of professional contributions to political proposals or answers to parliamentary questions
• Cooperation with partners and stakeholders in the primary education area as well as other authorities.

Depending on your experience you will have the opportunity to quickly take on independent responsibility and specialize within different parts of the primary education area.

About you

You have a relevant master’s degree, e.g. political science, sociology, education science, anthropology, pedagogy, law or similar educational background. We would prefer that you have experience from, for example, central government or a municipality. It would also be an advantage if you have experience with and/or insight into the teaching sector.

About the center

The Center for Primary Education is responsible for the agency’s tasks in the primary education area (excluding, among other things, tests and examinations). The center is organized into five teams with two head of offices. You will become part of a team with a team leader as people manager and will have close cooperation with colleagues with different professional backgrounds.

Salary and terms of employment

You will be employed as an assistant, specialist or senior consultant under the current pay agreement for Academics in the state between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations
