About the job

Are you scientifically educated and would you like to work with fishing, aquaculture facilities and environmental assessments? Then you may be our new colleague in the Danish Environmental Protection Agency's team for Fisheries Permits.

About us

The Danish Environmental Protection Agency's Office for Quota Administration and Fisheries Permits has 22 employees in three sections under the leadership of three section heads and one head of office. We administer, manage and ensure the professional basis within the administration of fish quotas as well as the various permits associated with commercial fishing, fish and shellfish farming, and the establishment of biogenic reefs.

In the office environment you will work together with other professional groups such as lawyers and generalists, among others. Many of our tasks are solved in collaboration with our fisheries control, and our colleagues in the ministry and in dialogue with stakeholders in the area.

It is a field with strong political focus and many development tasks in the coming years.

Your tasks

As our new scientific colleague you will be part of the team that works with permits for commercial fishing, experimental fishing and biogenic reefs, and where, as part of the permits, there must be an environmental assessment of activities in relation to, among other things, Natura 2000, protected species and the water environment. Your tasks will include, among other things, developing administrative practice in relation to the environmental assessments and participating in the team's tasks of issuing concrete permits for commercial fishing.

Depending on qualifications and preferences there is the opportunity to take on or contribute to other tasks in the team’s overall task portfolio.

Your qualifications

We expect you to

  • Be scientifically trained and have experience with significance assessments and habitat regulations as well as environmental impact assessments.
  • Be systematic and thorough in your work.
  • Be a skilled communicator in both writing and speaking, who can translate and convey complex knowledge in an easily understandable way.
  • Be a team player who with curiosity and proactivity takes responsibility for the common and cross-disciplinary problem solving.
  • Move easily between the overview and the detail; you quickly identify the essential elements in a complex knowledge base and can convey challenges and potential solutions.
  • Thrive with several different tasks, including the more routine ones related to issuing permits.
  • Can navigate in a politically governed organization and have an awareness that your results are used by colleagues in the office, with stakeholders and in our department.

We also expect you to want to work across disciplines with deeply engaged colleagues to solve our task of ensuring the factual basis to be able to manage the fisheries area in relation to environmental conditions.
