External Lecturer

At the Institute of Public Health, a number of three-year external lecturer positions are available for appointment from January 2027 or thereafter. As an external lecturer you will primarily be responsible for teaching on general medical courses at the bachelor and master's level in medicine.

There may, by agreement, also be teaching on other courses.

As an external lecturer you must be able to plan and conduct teaching independently as well as carry out the related examinations and other evaluations.

You will be introduced to the form and content of the teaching by the department's course leaders and offered ongoing supervision.

The position is described in Regulation on the staffing structure for scientific personnel at universities BEK no. 1443 of 11/12/2019 and in Agreement on external lecturers at universities among others under the Ministry of Education and Research.

Qualifications

The qualification requirement is a master's level as well as either

• Relevant professional experience at a high level, not obtained through a university scientific appointment, or
• Employment in a scientific main position at another university than the University of Copenhagen

Teaching qualifications are included in the assessment of applicants.

If you are appointed on the basis of your relevant professional experience, you must have in-depth current knowledge of the applications of the subject/field. This is gained through employment within the field.

Since teaching qualifications are part of the evaluation basis, you must accompany information about previous teaching activity. All those who teach must prepare and continuously maintain a teaching portfolio.

Salary and other terms of employment

Salary and other terms of employment are in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC on external lecturers at universities etc. under the Ministry of Education and Research.

The appointment is fixed-term for 3 years.

The workload associated with teaching may not exceed 500 hours per year. If necessary for the organization or execution of teaching, the workload may amount to up to 780 hours per year.

The hourly wage is DKK 314.49 per hour plus holiday pay (the actual hourly pay is adjusted with a preparation factor in relation to the specific teaching, e.g., a factor of 3.5 for lectures).

The further process

After the application deadline, the hiring authority, with advice from the recruitment committee, selects which applicants are to be evaluated. All applicants are immediately informed thereafter whether their application has progressed to evaluation by a qualified assessor. The selected applicants are informed of the assessor, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns the applicant.

After prioritizing the qualified applicants, interviews are held, after which any appointment is offered.
