Prison Officer

Would you like an exciting job where you can help make a difference? Denmark's Prisons are now seeking prison guards to staff the Danish prisons and detention centers.

As a prison guard it is your task to maintain the framework for a safe and predictable daily life for the inmates. You will work with people from all levels of society and help develop and maintain a constructive custodial environment. Most importantly, you contribute to motivating the inmates to a life without crime.

In the training you will learn

• about the prison officer's authorities, Denmark's Prison Service values, applicable rules and guidelines.
• to be aware of and reflect on your own actions in order to build a professional relationship with the inmates.
• to communicate clearly and use the right tools in potential conflict situations.

As a prison officer you must therefore

• be able to make decisions, even when it gets difficult.
• have the desire to make a difference for people who are in a difficult and life-changing situation.
• be balanced, responsible and, not least, have the energy.

As a prison officer you will have a job with great responsibility. You must be able to balance order and security and be able to support and motivate the inmates on the path to a law-abiding and good life on the other side of the wall.

Start date

Training start for prison officers occurs three times a year in January, April and September, where over the three years there is a rotation between school and internship in our institutions.
