About the job
Middelfart Municipality's Family Department is seeking two child and youth advisers for a maternity leave replacement in the Young Team
In the Young Team, two of our skilled colleagues will be on maternity leave, and we are therefore seeking two temporary replacements.
We are a department known for a high professional level. We are often used for teaching at UCL, as a practical training site for various observations, research and studies. We are not afraid to have our work examined by others – we are inviting and we actively seek new knowledge and sparring from outside. If this sounds like a workplace for you, we hope you will read on.
Who are we?
As a workplace, the Family Department is characterized by a warm, informal and acknowledging atmosphere.
In 2025 we conducted a well-being survey with a strong result. The areas where we have attention points, we actively work to improve – including the development of a wellbeing action plan that is developed based on employees' wishes, and in a collaboration between the occupational health and safety representative, the union representative and management. In this period we have a particular focus on flexible working hours. Work and private life must fit together – we are very attentive to this, and also want to lead by example so that individuals have the opportunity to create a sustainable working life.
We also want our department to be characterized by diversity, and we are aware that it takes something from us as a workplace.
The Family Department consists, in addition to the Young Team, of the Children’s Team, the Reception, the Foster Care Consultants and the Disabilities Team.
The department is supported in the social area by two professional coordinators and a team leader; the Disabilities Team has its own team leader. The Family Department is housed in our town hall in Middelfart, where we sit in an open office landscape.
The Family Department has prepared a work foundation to ensure that our visions always reflect the reality we work in. In the foundation, among other things, it states: “We create movement in the lives of children, the young and their families. We must be brave and dare to challenge ourselves and each other. Therefore, we also have to be in motion ourselves both professionally and personally. We develop new competencies and take advantage of the high professional level that exists in the department. It is a shared responsibility to lift and solve complex tasks.”
This means that there must be room for social and professional sparring and reflection among colleagues and between employees and leaders.
In the work foundation it is also stated that in addition to task-oriented statutory work, we expect our child and youth advisers to work cross-disciplinary and inclusive: “We prioritize being positive culture carriers in the cross-disciplinary collaboration, so we ensure that everyone on board commits to including the child’s perspective as central. (…) We are aware of ourselves as actors in the child’s life history, and we therefore have a great responsibility to be concrete and realistic in our descriptions of the child and the family.”
We can offer
- Good introduction and mentorship for the first 3 months.
- Development partner.
- A team with high professionality, where we work to utilize each individual's competencies as best as possible in relation to our core task.
- An accessible leadership that is curious and persistent in your professional and personal development, for the benefit of the families we work with.
- We are in dialogue with University College Lillebælt about educational programs focusing on inclusion in 2026 for the whole department.
- Development days with the team once a year.
- Regular group supervision with an external psychologist.
- Annual MUS conversation.
- We work from the social-pedagogical method ICS, which places the child/young person at the center and maps the child/young person’s and family’s resources and needs.
- We use the DUBU journal and registration system.
- Portable computer and mobile phone.
- Salary according to collective agreement and a new pay arrangement.
Position content and your profile
In the Young Team you will have your own case load where you primarily work according to chapters 3-5 of the Child Act. This means you will, for example, work with screening, mapping, child-focused assessments, non-specialist assessments and initiation of supportive interventions in accordance with the Child Act.
In addition, tasks include follow-up on interventions, participation in cross-disciplinary meetings, revision of the child’s plan and the youth plan, and of course inclusion of children, conversations/meetings, supervision visits with placed children and ongoing contact with children and their parents. There may also be tasks related to case handling and the preceding process when cases are to be handled in the Children and Young People Committee in relation to decisions without consent under the Child Act § 142.
To be able to handle the above tasks, we expect you to
- Have a basic education as a social worker or social facilitator.
- Work in an inclusive, motivating and acknowledging manner with children, young people and their families – also in relation to the family’s network.
- Be able to create change in practice and have a sense of the process. You have the courage to think creatively and want to work on development in the families.
- Value collaboration both internally and externally.
- Have a driving license for a car (municipal cars are available).
You can hear more about the position by contacting Team Leader Karen Gerdes (88885326/20180127) or Professional Coordinator Josefine Kreutz (61140596).
You are also welcome to contact the union representative Anja Jürs (30331749) for more about the job function or work environment.
Application deadline: The application must be received by the Family Department by Sunday, October 18, 2026 at 23:00 .
