About the job

Would you like to work closely with decision-makers in an area that creates value for citizens of all ages? Are you interested in financial management and eager to translate numbers into insights and solutions?

We are seeking two engaged and skilled financial consultants for the Finance Department, one for the Culture and Leisure Department and one for financial support for the municipality's staff functions (Shared Staff).

Both positions involve close collaboration with managers and professional areas on budget planning, financial monitoring and financial advice. At the same time, they offer the opportunity to work closely with the decision-making processes in an organization where the finance function plays a central role.

About the positions

You will become a permanent financial consultant for either the Culture and Leisure Department or the municipality’s staff functions and will be responsible for the financial support of your area.

A common feature of both positions is that you will, among other things, have to

  • Prepare budgets, financial follow-ups and year-end closures
  • Advise managers on financial dispositions and support the decision basis
  • Further develop governance tools and financial analyses
  • Plan and conduct financial meetings with budget-responsible managers
  • Work systematically and be able to follow up on agreements and create overview
  • Collaborate closely with managers, professional consultants and colleagues on the departments’ finances

Although you will have your primary focus on either Culture and Leisure or the staff functions, you will also be part of a strong professional community in the Finance Department. We work to strengthen cross-functional collaboration through buddy systems, joint quality assurance and sparring on tasks and deliverables. Therefore, we are looking for a colleague who thrives on both independent responsibility and close collaboration, and who wants to contribute to the continued development of our shared professionalism.

Both positions require that you are good at maintaining an overview without losing sight of the details, and that you can translate financial data into clear decision-making bases. You should thrive in daily dialogue with many different professionals and be curious about the business needs, proactive in your advice and motivated to develop governance tools and processes that support the management’s priorities.

Particularly about Culture and Leisure

The area has strong political attention and close contact with citizens of all ages. The professional area is characterized by many earmarked grants and fixed subsidies, combined with increasing demand from citizens for culture and leisure offerings. The position requires that you regularly follow up with staff in the Culture and Leisure Department and can explain finances to profiles without a financial background.

Particularly about the staff functions

The staff functions support the entire organization and work across the municipality’s professional areas. As a financial consultant you will be the financial sparring partner for department heads and staff within, among other things, cross-cutting administrative areas such as HR, Citizen Services, legal assistance etc. The position provides broad insight into the municipality’s overall finances and an opportunity to work with cross-cutting issues that affect the entire organization.

About you

We imagine that you

  • have a relevant educational background in economics, social sciences, administration or similar. Experience with municipal finances is an advantage but not a requirement. We also welcome recent graduates with an interest in public economics.
  • work systematically and have strong Excel competencies
  • are good at communicating complex issues in an easily understandable way
  • are proactive, solution-oriented and responsible
  • thrive in a politically governed environment and can collaborate with many stakeholders

About the team and the organization

The Finance Unit for BKM and Shared Staff is one of eight teams in the Department of Finance and Procurement, consisting of around 100 employees in total. Together, we support the municipality’s administrations and institutions with, among other things, budgeting, accounting, financial analysis and bookkeeping. You will, on a day-to-day basis, be placed in one of the department’s four budgeting units, which consist of eight financial consultants, a professional coordinator and a unit head to whom you report.

The unit’s primary task is related to budget planning and follow-up and the role as a financial professional sparring partner for the area’s budget-responsible managers. We place great emphasis on a relaxed work environment, good humor and collegiality. In addition, we can offer flexible working hours.
