- Do I need a CVR number to work freelance?
- Not always. You can receive fees as B-income without a CVR number, but most businesses prefer an invoice from a CVR number. You must register for VAT when your taxable turnover exceeds DKK 50,000 over 12 months.
- What hourly rate should I charge as a freelancer?
- Your rate must cover pay, pension, holiday, sickness, insurance, equipment and time without assignments. A rule of thumb is that it should be well above the hourly pay of an employee in the same job.
- Can I get unemployment benefits as a freelancer?
- Yes, as self-employed you can be a member of an unemployment fund, but the benefit rules differ from those for employees. Ask your fund about the rules for the self-employed.
- What is the difference between freelance and a temporary job?
- In a temporary job you are employed and paid a salary. As a freelancer you are self-employed and send an invoice. It affects tax, holiday, notice and insurance.
