Frederiksberg Youth School seeks a teacher for HDU – 15 hours per week

About the position

Frederiksberg Youth School is looking for a teacher for our HDU class (Full-day Danish Instruction) 15 hours per week.

HDU is a full-time offering for young people who are new to Denmark, where the development of Danish as a second language is integrated across the teaching.

Your primary teaching will be in mathematics and cultural subjects. You will be part of a small and dedicated team that works closely together to create a safe, motivating and developmental school day for the students.

The instruction is practice-oriented and based on the students' different academic and language prerequisites, needs and potentials.

The target group

HDU is aimed at newly arrived youths between 16 and 18 years old, who

• have short or medium-length school background from their home country
• have a need for an intensive and structured teaching program
• wish to strengthen their academic and Danish-language competencies with a view to further education, work and active participation in Danish society.

The teaching is organized as a daytime program with a focus on language, academics, culture and understanding of society.

Your primary tasks

• Teaching in mathematics and cultural subjects.
• Two-teacher lessons in English and Danish.
• To support students' development of Danish as a second language through teaching in your subjects.
• Planning and carrying out differentiated, practice-oriented and motivating teaching sequences.
• Collaboration with colleagues around the students' learning, wellbeing and development.
• To actively contribute to the academic and social community around the HDU class.

• have teaching experience and preferably a teacher education or other relevant professional background.
• have competencies and a desire to teach in mathematics and cultural subjects.
• have an interest in or experience with Danish as a second language.
• have experience with classroom management and differentiated teaching.
• have experience with or are motivated to work with young people with different linguistic, academic and cultural prerequisites.
• are good at building relationships and clear and safe boundaries.
• are flexible, inclusive and curious about each individual young person's resources and possibilities.
• thrive in close collaboration in a small team.

Employment

Weekly working hours : 15 hours.

Start date: 5 January 2027.
