Gandrup School is seeking an engaged, competent, and proactive reading advisor who also will handle Danish teaching and the homeroom role for 7th grade.

About the position and your tasks As a reading advisor you will play a central role in strengthening the school's overall reading effort and support teachers' instruction. Your tasks will be centered around:

  • Reading guidance and coaching programs: You will conduct reading programs and provide guidance at both the individual and team level in close collaboration with the school's competence center and management.
  • Coordination and testing: You will ensure the administration of the annual reading tests and follow up on the school’s class conferences, which form the framework for dialogue about students’ academic and social development.
  • DSA area: You will take on tasks related to Danish as a Second Language.
  • Teaching: You will be a Danish teacher and homeroom teacher for 7th grade.

Structure, view of children and framework – A safe framework for all At Gandrup School we work from the view of children

“Children do well if they can.” Our pedagogical approach is systemic with a context-based understanding of student behavior.

We are a certified UNICEF Rights School , which means that the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is an integral part of our culture and everyday life. We expect you to actively involve the student’s voice, create space for participation, and ensure that students feel respected.

To create a safe and predictable school day we work across the school based on a fixed lesson structure – among other things through the consistent use of pictograms and Time Timers on the board.

We expect that you

  • Have a major in Danish (preferably supplemented with competencies in the humanities subjects) as well as experience or education in reading guidance (knowledge of DSA is an advantage).
  • Work from the view of children “Children do well if they can” and master differentiating instruction so that all students are challenged and motivated.
  • Possess a proactive approach to the reading advisor role.
  • Be relationship-oriented and able to build close, professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues and cross-disciplinary partners.
  • Be a professionally grounded team player who thrives in an environment with professional learning communities (PLC).

We offer

  • A academically strong culture: A workplace where, based on systemic thinking, we continually work with reflection, analysis, hypotheses and problem-solving action plans.
  • Engaged colleagues and management: An experienced and capable team that expects close collaboration, as well as management that actively participates in pedagogical development, guidance and coaching.
  • A values-based daily life: A workplace characterized by recognition, high parent support and an environment where you as an adult make a real and visible difference.
