About the job

Do you dream of a meaningful job within one of the world's most important political agendas?

And do you thrive at opening doors around the world, think creatively, and have experience with public affairs work, where you must be inside the professional substance but also develop good personal relations with others?

Then you have the chance now. The plant-based transition is one of the 21st century's most important agendas. And Denmark, with the Action Plan for Plant-Based Foods and the Foundation for Plant-Based Foods, has created some internationally historic initiatives that others in the world are interested in.

As the central plant-based actor in Denmark with 38 employees, the Danish Vegetarian Association needs you to support the plant-based agenda globally, based on the Danish initiatives, which will among other things take place within the initiative (Danish Plant-Based Diplomacy (DPBD).

Work that promotes plant-based ambitions and policies globally

You will work closely with our other Global Policy Manager and the rest of the political team as well as DVF’s Secretary General and Program Director.

Your responsibilities will primarily be

− Carry out events with partners outside Europe, often at embassies, with the aim of inspiring other countries to develop plant-based action plans and secure funding for plant-based foods and food systems

− Create support to allocate funds via Danida or another state source to plant-based food systems in the Global South

− Support the establishment of an alliance of countries with plant-based policies

− Try to open doors to other countries, e.g. Norway and the United Arab Emirates (in collaboration with another colleague), regarding funding for plant-based food systems

− Carry out and arrange events and activities within international events such as COP, Climate Weeks, etc.

− Communication tasks related to dissemination, reporting and follow-up on activities and events

− Other ad hoc tasks as needed

Do you have experience with bridge-building work and political work globally?

We expect that you

− Have a basic understanding of how to balance idealistic messages that inspire others while being pragmatic and focusing on concrete results.

− Are educated in political science, international development studies or a similar field; or you have professional experience with political work or from the development sector

− Have knowledge of or experience with financing development work abroad, including Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) as well as budgeting for activities conducted in the Global South.

− Both enjoy working in a team and at the same time have a high degree of independence

− Have basic knowledge about vegetarian/vegan lifestyle and food preferences and food systems - both in Denmark and globally

− Can see yourself in DVF’s values

− Can communicate correctly, sharply and thoughtfully to recipients with different levels of knowledge

− Thrive with sometimes quite a bit of hands-on work, including background research as well as setting up documents etc.

− Thrive with the salary we can offer, because you know that the green transition requires someone to take the lead.

You will have a daily life with flexible frameworks

Your daily work will take place at our secretariat located at Vester Voldgade 2, 2.tv . Here we are currently 38 colleagues, of whom 5 work from Jutland and Funen. We focus on arranging work according to the individual's needs, and therefore we practice, for example, weekly home office days and flexible working hours. We have a nice social environment and value collegiality highly.

The position will involve 15-25 travel days, and possibly up to 30 travel days per year, both alone and with colleagues.

Start date, working hours and salary

We are looking for a colleague who can start as soon as possible and no later than 1 January 2027. We can offer a position of 37 hours per week with a monthly salary from 1 January 2027 of 37,415 DKK (including a duty allowance) – or down to 30 hours per week with a corresponding reduction in salary.

The position will run until 31 December 2029 with the possibility of extension if we still have Foundation funds for the effort thereafter. The salary is non-negotiable, as we have a very flat pay structure.

In addition, we offer an employer-paid pension of 11% and 6 weeks of vacation.

The lunch break is unpaid; however, we have a very good and partly employer-paid lunch program with 100% plant-based food, and we have free access to an organic coffee, tea, fruit and nut program.
