About the job

Leader of Job and Intervention – set the direction for a new area

Are you ready to lead the employment effort in a time of significant change, and where we have great freedom to shape the effort locally? And do you want to lead an area with close collaboration relations and stable staff groups?

Then we are ready with a position where you will be responsible for a new area that handles the municipality's efforts with unemployment benefits, flex jobs, unemployment benefits and cash welfare and the effort around work obligation.

Many efforts, one goal – more in work

In Thy, the employment effort starts and ends with the labour market. It is the benchmark for the entire Employment Area, where around 75-80 employees work purposefully to create the best match between companies and citizens. The Employment Area is together with Benefit and Enterprise a part of a combined department with around 105 employees. In 2027 we move into new, modern physical premises at the town hall.

You will become head of Job and Intervention, where several of the teams have worked together for a long time, and where we now need to think in new ways across functions. The position is organizationally placed at the level of a section head and involves broad leadership responsibility with responsibility for operations, development, economy and staff. In addition, you will be part of a leadership team where we take responsibility collectively and act quickly on our agreements.

You translate the employment reform into real interventions

In your leadership you will be the focal point for different professional disciplines when you set priorities so that the new frameworks benefit the individual citizen as much as possible and at the same time use the resources where they make the biggest difference.

That means you will have a daily life where you balance secure operations, financial management and budget responsibility, development – and not least staff wellbeing as people leader.

You will among other things

  • translate the employment reform and the political guidelines into concrete practice and measurable results
  • set a clear labour market-oriented direction and create follow-up in an organization undergoing change
  • be focused on high professional quality, due process and responsible exercise of authority
  • ensure that our efforts hit the balance between freedom and being more persistent and relationship-building, depending on citizens’ needs and immediate work capacity
  • set the direction for digital development so we translate data, digital solutions and artificial intelligence into simpler workflows.
  • contribute to secure financial management through ongoing budget follow-up and prioritization of resources.

You can lead in a time of change

You do not need to have all the answers, but you can create an overview, ask the right questions and stand behind the shared direction. The most important thing is that you can translate political ambitions and financial frameworks into clear priorities and have a sense of when the effort should be closer to the labour market, the educational environments or citizens’ everyday life.

In addition, we would like you to

  • have leadership experience from the employment area or a closely related area
  • understand the authority task and the importance of high professional quality in a context where all citizens must be met on their terms
  • be able to create follow-up, even when we change practices
  • have a valid driving licence.
