About the job
As the inspection chief you will have the management responsibility for a group of inspectors who work self-directed and remotely. You must translate the shared direction into stable operations with high professional quality and create buy-in and coherence in the group. At the same time you will become part of a management group that has a common responsibility for Tilsynscenter Syd's overall task-solving.
Are you motivated by a safe and healthy working environment in Denmark? As a part of the Danish Working Environment Authority (Arbejdstilsynet) you will help promote a safe and healthy working life at Danish workplaces. You contribute by ensuring an effective inspection operation with high professional quality, developing task execution together with employees and leadership colleagues, and engaging in strong collaborative relationships both internally within the Danish Working Environment Authority and with external partners.
The Danish Working Environment Authority is a politically led organization. This means that our tasks and priorities are shaped, among other things, by political agreements, legislation and ongoing development in the occupational health and safety area. As inspection chief you must be able to navigate safely within these frameworks and translate high-level goals and decisions into well-functioning daily task execution.
Your leadership task As inspection chief you are responsible that the group’s tasks are carried out efficiently and with high professional quality. You must set direction, prioritize and follow up and at the same time create good conditions for employees’ task execution, collaboration, well-being and development.
In Tilsynscenter Syd there are in total about 100 inspectors, divided into inspection groups based on company sectors.
You become the head of an inspection group with about 15-20 inspectors with various educational and professional backgrounds. The employees supervise the work environment at Danish workplaces and investigate workplace accidents. They are geographically distributed in South and Southern Jutland and on Funen and largely plan their own work. This places special demands on your leadership. You must be able to be clear and present, even if you do not meet the employees physically every day.
You must create coherence through ongoing dialogue, follow-up, meetings and professional coordination – both physically, by telephone and virtually.
You will be part of Tilsynscenter Syd's management group, which consists of six inspection chiefs and an inspection director. We work closely together and share a common responsibility for the center's operations, development and results. This means that you must take clear responsibility for your own group and actively contribute to priorities and solutions across the center. We continuously adjust the distribution of management tasks as the center's tasks and needs change. Your management role may therefore develop over time. This will always happen in dialogue with you and the overall management group.
Your main tasks will be
- ensure a stable and efficient inspection operation with high professional quality
- set direction, prioritize and follow up on the group's tasks and results
- lead and develop employees who largely work self-directed and remotely
- translate political decisions as well as the Danish Working Environment Authority's goals and strategic priorities into daily task execution
- contribute to developing and implementing new workflows and initiatives
- create good collaborative relations in the group, across the center and with relevant internal and external partners.
The leader we seek You are a clear and consolidating leader who can create buy-in and have the courage to make decisions. You can set direction, prioritize and follow up – even when tasks, considerations and expectations pull in different directions. You have an eye for both operations, professional quality and employees' well-being and development.
You have experience working in a politically led organization and understand the special frameworks that come with it. You can translate political decisions and strategic priorities into concrete task execution and communicate clearly about both the background, direction and practical consequences.
You are inclusive and collaborative in your leadership and manage to engage employees' diverse competencies. You can create coherence and community, also when employees work remotely, and you actively and loyally contribute to the joint leadership of the center.
In addition we imagine that you
- have a relevant academic education or equivalent and experience with personnel management
- have professional interest in and preferably insight into the working environment and exercising authority
- can maintain an overview of resources, operations and complex tasks
- can delegate and give employees clear responsibility
- have integrity, good judgment and a high personal ethic
- contribute actively, constructively, engaged and openly to the collaboration in an equal management group
- have strong collaboration skills and can build good internal and external relationships.
Salary and employment terms The position is full-time. We would like you to start on January 1, 2027.
You are employed on contractual terms with pay in salary group 1 (pay range 37), and the employment is on a fixed-term basis for a five-year period. There is attached a discretionary allowance to the position, and there is the possibility for negotiation of a qualification allowance. Employment takes place under the framework agreement on contract employment of managers in the state.
It is a prerequisite for employment that you can obtain security clearance and subsequently maintain the security clearance throughout your employment period.
Your daily workplace is Eltangvej 232, 6000 Kolding.
