You report to the Director of Children and Youth and are part of the management team together with the director, the head of daycare, and the heads of Policy and Strategy and Finance and Administration.

You will, among other things, have responsibility for

  • Lead and develop the leadership team and create clear direction and coherence in the school area
  • Translate political and strategic ambitions into professional quality, operations and development in the municipality's school offerings

  • Create strong collaborations with the head of daycare, the professional center, PPR and other departments and administrations and with external actors
  • Serve the Children and Education Committee and ensure a strong decision-making basis and relevant financial follow-up.

Set the direction for the next chapter

Children and Youth work according to the vision "We can, together." With the strategic program Strengthening Communities there is a clear direction, and a number of initiatives must now be translated into lasting impact for children, young people, parents and staff.

  • In the initial period you will especially focus on:
  • Create more cohesive efforts across the school area, Children and Youth and the municipality
  • Ensure the implementation and anchoring of initiated initiatives, including the primary school quality program.
  • Unite the leadership team around organization, division of tasks and internal interfaces.
  • Strengthen school leaders' strategic leadership capabilities and the quality of both general and special educational offerings.

Can you create direction and results?

We are seeking a School Principal who combines a strong focus on the daily lives of children and young people with solid organizational and strategic leadership. You understand the political reality and can translate ambitions into action.

We envision that you

  • Have a strong interest in and insight into children and young people, their well-being, learning, formation and development.
  • Have relevant education, preferably complemented by management training, and experience in leading other leaders.
  • Have experience with political advisory work and delivering results in complex, cross-cutting collaborations.
  • Be familiar with the primary school sector and have experience in leading, supporting and following up on schools' work with strategic action plans, their quality and results.

As a leader you create followership through clear, trust-building and presence-based leadership. You make decisions at the intersection of operations, professionalism and political expectations, are pragmatic and results-oriented, and maintain calm and discernment when the task is complex.
