Head of Section for the Development of Rigshospitalet's Platform Trial Initiative

Rigshospitalet is seeking a section head to lead and further develop the Platform Trials Unit (PTU) and at the same time be a driving force in the strategic investment in platform trials across the hospital, regionally, nationally and internationally.

We are looking for a leader with good collaboration skills and a view for both strategy, organization and communication. You must be able to bring together many different stakeholders around shared goals and create momentum in the development of an area with great research and clinical significance.

About the Platform Trial Unit

The Platform Trial Unit supports clinical departments in the development and conduct of platform trials and contributes to the dissemination and strategic anchoring of the area nationally and Nordic-wide. The unit currently consists of a strategic team coordinator, a statistician and a project coordinator with method-specific competencies within platform trials, clinical research and project execution. The unit is in development, and there are ambitions to strengthen the area further in the coming years.

From 1 November 2026, the Platform Trial Unit will be anchored in the Strategy Unit in the Directorate Support Staff. This means closer collaboration with other administrative staff who work with strategic Directorate support.

About the position

As section head you will ensure coherence between strategy, organization and development of the area. You will be responsible for the continued development of the unit, including people management, resource prioritization and strategic strengthening of internal and external collaborations.

You will work closely with the unit’s strategic team coordinator for platform trials, who has been central in establishing the unit/area at Rigshospitalet and contributes with strategic sparring, organizational insight and cross-cutting coordination. At the same time, you must ensure that the unit’s overall competencies are utilized and developed in line with the area’s needs. The ambition is to develop the Platform Trial Unit into a strong national environment for clinical platform trials in close collaboration with university hospitals in Denmark and the Nordic countries.

Your main areas of responsibility

• Strategic leadership and development of the Platform Trial Unit
• Staff management, recruitment, competence development, well-being and sparring
• Development and implementation of strategic initiatives
• Preparation of decision briefs and management support for, among others, the executive, especially the Chief Research Officer, and the steering group for platform trials
• Further development of governance, processes and organizational frameworks for platform trials
• Building and maintaining collaborations with clinical environments, research institutions, authorities, regions and industry
• Strategic stakeholder management and representation of Rigshospitalet’s investment in national and international collaborations

Your profile

We imagine that you

• Have a relevant academic education, e.g. in public health, pharmacy, medicine, social sciences or similar
• Have experience with leading strategic development efforts in complex organizations
• Have experience with people management
• Have experience with project, program or portfolio management
• Can work with a high degree of independence and maintain overview and structure in complex processes in large organizations
• Have understanding of clinical research and preferably experience with clinical trials and research processes
• Can set direction and drive cross-disciplinary and cross-organizational areas
• Have strong collaboration and communication skills

Terms of employment

• The position is classified as a senior consultant with personnel management responsibility under the applicable collective agreement.
• The position is organizationally anchored in the Directorate Support Staff, which is one of Rigshospitalet’s three common staff departments.
