About us

The Establishment and Terrain Command bears the client responsibility as well as the operation of the Ministry of Defence's properties, areas and exercise areas used for military purposes across Denmark, including the Arctic.

The Administration Department bears the corporate responsibility for management and advice for the maintenance and development of the professional authority responsibility within the areas: Planning, environment, nature and energy, and therefore has an important role in connection with increasing combat power for the operators in connection with the implementation of the budget settlement projects.

The Administration Department consists of six technically dynamic sections, all of which have broad contact with the Ministry of Defence's other agencies and authorities, NATO, other Nordic and Baltic countries as well as external partners.

We place great emphasis on professional sparring, knowledge sharing and development of task solutions, which generally characterize our daily work.

We work purposefully with preparing for the initiation of many projects, including projects related to the defence agreement, which can only succeed through a joint effort across stakeholders and with a focus on credibility and action.

About the position

As Section Chief of the Administration Section, you report directly to the Office Chief of the Administration Department, and you will be responsible for leading 16 dedicated professionals distributed across three teams in close coordination with the other professionally responsible sections within the areas: Planning, environment, nature and energy.

You will be responsible for the section's professional task execution in terms of maintaining the operation and development of the Ministry of Defence's environmental and energy management system and coordinating the Establishment and Terrain Command's strategic efforts within the areas: Planning, environment, nature and energy. This also includes the preparation of the Ministry of Defence's climate accounts and other annual environmental and energy reporting.

You will furthermore be expected to contribute to communication and coordination of the necessary authorities’ permits in connection with area-specific agreement projects, where coordination of cross-cutting dialogue with supervisory authorities and ministerial departments, as well as ongoing reporting to stakeholders, is crucial for success in the role.

About you

We imagine that you have experience as a manager or leader within authority handling in the areas of planning, environment, nature or energy, but that you also hold a relevant academic degree, such as engineer, lawyer or similar.

You have strong leadership competencies and are a generalist with solid theoretical and practical expertise within the authority field. It is essential that you can motivate contributors and prioritize efforts in a busy everyday life.

It is desirable that you have experience working in a politically led organization, and that you can operate in the tension between political and professional leadership, external authorities and interest organizations, as you often participate in discussions and negotiations on professional topics of significance for the Ministry of Defence's operations.

A large part of the tasks are solved with contributions from external advisors, so it is important that you are good at collaborating with advisors on the need for authority handling.

You should expect travel within the country and to a lesser extent abroad. You must have a valid driving license for category B.

Terms of employment

The employment is in accordance with the current agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organizations for academics in the state (Academic Agreement).

Depending on your qualifications and competences, there is a possibility for negotiation of supplements. There is an employer-funded pension scheme attached to the position.

The workplace is in Nr. Sundby.

As an employee under the Ministry of Defence's area, you are subject to certain special conditions. This means, among other things, that you must be able to undergo security clearance and maintain this throughout your employment.

You as an employee have a duty to perform service outside the country’s borders, including at units in international operations with a view to participation in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacebuilding, humanitarian and other similar operations.
