Head of the Construction Case Area

Do you want to lead a professionally strong and well-functioning section – and work with everything from smaller construction cases to some of Hillerød Municipality's largest and most complex development projects?

Hillerød is a municipality in continual development. Housing and commercial construction are being built, large urban development projects are taking shape, and the technical area has significant political attention and is prioritized.

We are seeking a new section head for Building, who stands on solid regulatory expertise with knowledge of building case processing, and who is motivated by being a leader. You must put the employees' professional knowledge into play, create direction and coherence, and find good solutions in balancing professionalism, legislation, political ambitions and the municipality's continued development.

You will lead a group of employees with good collaboration and strong professional competence and with great independence in task execution. Here there is an informal tone with room for professional disagreement and to voice your opinion.

You will also become part of an experienced leadership group in City and Environment. We have an informal tone and we help each other. We are busy, but insist on taking time together to develop and create good collaboration. There is room for your input and ideas.

One of the special aspects of the job is the breadth. Building works with everything from ordinary construction cases to large and complex development projects. The section also has responsibility for rural zones, citizen- and business-service, GIS and geodata as well as development and coordination with the municipality's emergency services.

As a leader you will therefore be close to the daily authority task and to some of the big questions about Hillerød Municipality's development. On your desk will land some more complex cases where different professional, legal and political considerations must be balanced.

Here we need your professionalism and judgement – and a certain pragmatism. You must be able to see opportunities to find a solution, but also know when professional or legal risks mean that you must say no.

We do not expect you to be a professional specialist. The employees themselves possess great professional knowledge. On the other hand, you must be able to be a qualified sparring partner and thrive on getting others to succeed.

You lead with trust and give employees room, but you must also be clear and able to step into the management room, take responsibility and set direction when needed.

In addition to being part of the management group in City and Environment, you will also be part of the broader management community in the directorate area Development, Climate and Technology. We are therefore looking for someone who wants to take responsibility for more than their own area and contribute to the shared management responsibility.

We imagine that you have a relevant professional background and solid experience with the building case area and governance. You have management experience, political acumen, and understanding of working in a politically led organization. Legal understanding and interest in complex authority cases is also important.
