Heating, energy and climate consultant sought - West

The position as heating-, energy- and climate consultant in Fyens, Aalborg, Viborg, Aarhus, Ribe and Haderslev stifts is hereby advertised with commencement on 1 January 2027. The position is a fixed-term contract for 4 years and expires on 31 December 2030.

The position is a part-time/side job.

Profile

The heating-, energy- and climate consultant must have an education as a mechanical/structural engineer or similar with a specialization in heating, energy, and climate matters. The person employed in the position must not have a financial interest in companies that manufacture, trade, repair or service heating or climate systems or components for such systems.

The heating-, energy- and climate consultant is appointed personally and may be attached to an engineering or architectural firm with specialization in heating, energy and climate.

Tasks

The consultant's professional area includes cases concerning the execution of new heating, ventilation or humidification systems, or the rebuilding of existing systems in churches, including performing an expert thermal-technical and economic assessment regarding the execution and use of church heating systems. In addition, cases concerning energy consumption as well as location and exploitation of energy-saving opportunities and cases concerning climate conditions, including climate problems for churches’ historical inventory, etc.

As a heating-, energy- and climate consultant, you shall, upon request, provide a statement in cases relating to the above.

You will also be required to provide advice and guidance to parish councils and cemetery boards upon request.

The heating-, energy- and climate consultant also participates in the diocese's consultant rounds, where we, among other things, visit churches in the diocese where a parish council has wishes or plans for a project.

During the consultant rounds, the project is discussed with the parish council, and where the heating-, energy- and climate consultant applies their expertise together with the diocese's other consultants. Approximately 4 consultant rounds are held per year in each diocese.

The practical

As a heating-, energy- and climate consultant you act as an advisor to the church authorities in accordance with the rules in:

Please note that the Ministry of Health and Church expects to issue revised administrative directives for consultation for review during September 2026. A change in the consultants' areas of responsibility is anticipated, and the changes will therefore be relevant for upcoming appointments. The ministry expects to adopt the administrative directives in October-November 2026.

It is important to note that you as a heating-, energy- and climate consultant may not undertake design tasks for parish councils within the diocese you are employed by, unless the diocese exceptionally approves it.

Remuneration

The remuneration as of 1 January 2026

• Consulting cases under § 8 of Circular no. 9779 of 6 October 2009 on a common instruction for the Church of Denmark's consultants: 1,236 DKK per hour.
• Statements under § 7, sec. 1, of Circular no. 9779 of 6 October 2009 on a common instruction for the Church of Denmark's consultants: 1,854 kr.pr per statement.

The remuneration is supplemented with 12.5% holiday allowance, and no VAT is to be added.

The rates are adjusted annually on 1 January.
